  1. Hello again Moonglow - just to ask, was this sound developer Urmet Erhan? I have his libraries as well, since I did not use the keyboard as intended. ~ Anthony
  2. Yes - well you have a point. I also have some custom sounds that were done by a 3rd party outside of Korg that's been featured here. And I don't believe he has these restrictions. They are custom sounds and samples from Hit Songs. I did just notice something from the ID.Korg.com site - when I went to a listing of my Sound Libraries, i had not authorized them for use with any particular Kronos. It is only listing the one I own at the moment but say's: Used in the 0 product(s) out of 3. Select a product where you use this sound library. So I guess they are letting you share the sound libraries now??? But only outside of the same Korg ID naturally. More importantly for me was to move the libraries from outside of my account. I could always provide the files to the buyer via USB Stick, since the authorization would be tied to the machine. I just didn't want the libraries tied to my ID afterwards. Have the same type of inquiry for other boxed software I've never used, East West, VSL Titles etc. Never installed since when purchased I did not have a PC. Was awaiting compatibility with a Receptor VST player I had purchased way back. East West was never made compatible. Now that I have a Mac Mini, do not have a need for the software or my receptor. VSL no longer uses a dongle, which is what it came with. Will have to see what I have and list in the Garage Sale. Bad thing is that I had software loaded on the Receptor: Komplete 8 or 9, Ivory, Trillion etc which is kind of tied to the unit. ~ Anthony
  3. Hello - thank you. The thing is - I'm more concerned with actually being able to provide the software as a Free Bonus with the sale. But all of these are registered under My KORG ID account. I'd rather have them registered under the account of the person who purchases the keyboard if I can. I have asked on KORG Support as well and am currently awaiting a response. If anyone our there knows if I can move the licenses to another KORG ID account, please let me know. Thank You Anthony
  4. Hey Everyone, Hope you are all well. I have two related questions that I need to find answers for in regards to Korg Kronos Libraries that I previously purchased from various 3rd Party Vendors on the Korg Site a few years ago. I have a Korg Kronos 2 73 in Mint Condition that I will be placing for sale. Unfortunately, I purchased it for live performance and studio but never really used it. So essentially it is as new. However, I also purchased about multiple sound libraries for it also, which I need to re-authorize on the Korg Site, including the Berlin Piano. As I understand it, Korg have integrated the Korg Libraries Shop and My Kronos sites into the Korg Shop ? I have been away from the Korg sites for awhile, so wasn't aware of this. Although I could provide the file downloads and installers on a USB Stick and the authorization keys once re-authorized on their new site, I have the following questions: 1) Is Korg now allowing their 3rd party and Korg Libraries to be moved to another Kronos? 2) Can I "move" my previous library purchases to someone else's Korg account (for the same Kronos), so they always have access to them? I've searched the Korg Forums, but only have old references from 2013 stating that Korg at the time was not allowing this. Sorry if I'm bending rules a little by mentioning the sale outside of the Garage Sale - but need to know about the software before I make any mis-statements. Thanks Anthony
  5. Hey Everyone, Good Afternoon Reezekeys, Actually I haven't fully set up the studio and have been more concerned with practicing and composing with the time I have available. That's why I'm using headphones, as to not inconvenience my fiancee', who also lives in my household. But they are nice quality Sony headphones with extended range and a nice flat sound as to not accentuate bass frequencies. Using the 7NoteMode video as an example, I believe the piano sounds fine, and would easily be good enough for most streaming and CD work. And I know I have a lava lamp in storage. That's one essential touch for any home studio! I really appreciate all of the suggestions and feedback guys, really. It's just that I'm very ignorant when it comes to home studio setup's and in particular DAW usage. Really, I was hoping to use the Cuebase Lite that came with one of the keyboards I purchased, since I figured that most of the features of the advanced level DAWS would be wasted for what I need to do. But don't really have the desire to learn two programs. It's bad enough that I never got around the OS of some of the keyboards I have here. I just miss the simplicity of earlier boards. It's worth noting speaking of Midi that my Roland A-88 outputs Hope your all having a nice day! ~ Anthony
  6. Hey Guy's - thanks a lot for the responses so far. So in reviewing everything you advised: I don't have to tell you that I'm new to using a MAC for this specific purpose - so know absolutely nothing about using a DAW and mastering recordings! As a matter of fact I don't know if separate mastering software is really needed for just piano recordings. That being said..... 1) I'm probably going to be using headphones rather than studio monitors - at least if I'm only doing piano tracks. 2) In the case of solo piano music, outside of basic EQ would I still need to master the recordings (compression etc) or pretty much use the straight signal coming from the Nord or internal VST? The mastering software I spoke of had channel presets that could be used to make things a lot easier for multi-track recording. But I am primarily concerned with just straight piano recordings at the moment. 3) In your opinion - is the Nord 3D piano comparable to using software. In some cases, the recording actually sound much cleaner without the extra level of detail VST's provide, like piano noise. As a matter of fact, I've turned off the pedal noise in the Royal 3D piano on the Nord stage and saved this as a new preset. If using an internal VST, I could save tons of money in not purchasing an A/D interface, since I could do everything internal to the computer. Regards, Anthony
  7. Hi Dave, wishing you a really wonderful birthday!
  8. Hello Everyone, OK, 1st post on the newly designed forum and hope everyone is doing well. The forum really looks great btw ~ so belated congratulations! Speaking of new, I finally took the advice of my fellow forum members (Dr. Mike, Dave B) when on the forum hangs and responses from forum members here, and purchased a new Mac Mini M1 w 16 GB Ram and 1 TB SSD. I was waiting for a Mac Mini upgrade, but it seems that Apple is not doing this right now. This will be my computer for recording original tracks intended for streaming. I forgot how many mini / audio tracks can be running at the same time but know from some YouTube video's that this setup might be way more than ample for my needs. But I do have to make these as professional sounding as possible. I wanted to ask what the best DAW would be to record (midi recording and audio rendering) in order to produce these tracks at a professional level. These recordings will mostly be piano based but might include other instrumentation as well. I would need to edit these after midi recording to make adjustments, so would need both a piano roll and midi visual representation. Also some sheet music rendering and printing options would not hurt. Also I wanted to ask if mastering software would be needed. I know the company that produces EZ KEYZ has mastering software available as well. At the moment, I'm really enamored with the 3D piano that's in my Nord Stage 3. It sounds extremely natural to me, especially when controlled when played from a weighted keyboard. But I know there might be better options being the piano needs to sound as authentic as possible to a live grand. A lot has been made of Ravenscroft but I even recall video's made by 7NoteMode on YouTube using the Ivory II American Concert D that sounded really nice as well. These were done a number of years ago though and he is using a Nord Piano now. Also, in the event I want to load any large libraries, a suggestion for a 4TB external SSD would be welcome. I currently use a Passport 4TB for storage of online video's. Assuming from past replies that I still wouldn't need to go Thunderbolt for transfer of audio files and samples (Mainstage, Kontakt or KeyScape libraries). I think all of my software is 64 bit but may be wrong since I purchased some of it over 10 years ago. Best Regards to everyone, Anthony
  9. Thank you very much for posting that video ReezeKays, it was extremely eye opening and helpful! Regards, Anthony
  10. Hey There, Unfortunately, I can't comment on the boot time, since I haven't had the chance to unbox it yet. How did you use it for live recording? Did you take the mixer outputs direct or use the condenser microphones and how was the sound quality?
  11. Hello Lady Gaia, I just saw your post as I refreshed my screen, so thank you. I do know what your saying, and being in the tech world by day myself do realize what memory limitations can do to performance. At the moment I am running my iMAC 2015 with literally dozens of open browser windows with multiple tabs on each and the system completely halts unless I reboot when too many are opened. Even flushing the cache doesn't help. it would be much smarter to just place them as favorites to re-visit at another time. But prefer to do it this way. In comparison, my IMAC really slowed down when the system had it's original RAM configuration. Even though I've been a tech support analyst quite awhile, decades really, I have never used the technology in this way, which is why I posted. Because I personally don't know what I would have been able to get away with should I decide to run those multi-gigabyte libraries in the future, perhaps in a live situation or home. There's a presenter on YouTube whose catch phrase is: "Buy it Right or Buy It Twice" Lol Saying that, there is a $$$ difference between the 3 configurations I was looking at: 1) Mac Mini M1 with 16 GB with 1 TB SSD 2) MacBook Air M1 with 16 GB with 1 TB SSD (same config as above) 3) MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 32 GB - about $1K more than the MacBook Air Thank you very much for your post before and to the other members who have posted so far. Your insights are most appreciated. Regards, Anthony
  12. Hello ReezeKeys - no I didn't see that video of Barry Johns, and am going to look it up on YouTube. Yeah it is pretty natural to sweat the decision. I just purchased a Zoom H8 to record ideas for composition or record practice sessions. According to some YouTube reviews, the pre-amps aren't of the highest caliber, but hopefully the line level inputs bypass the pre-amp stage. I guess I was just worried about the Laptop or MacMini purchase to future-proof myself. I also feel a little stupid in that I purchased a LOT of software over the last 10 years, some still quite expensive when on sale in the hopes of using with a laptop or my older Muse Receptor in a live situation. Now, I don't know if I'll ever have use for it or the MUSE TRIO I traded up to. And I spent literally thousands of dollars in the process. As my earlier post mentioned, some I know I will never use, like Vienna Strings (Cinematic Strings). The MUSE TRIO is also on my prospective sales list. Now all I need at the moment at least, is an extremely convincing Grand Piano VST. I have been looking at Ravenscroft and Yamaha CFX from both VSL and Garritan but am still looking at other titles as well. Not to mention that I already have IVORY, but not the American Steinway D. Regards, Anthony
  13. Hello, I just purchase a Zoom H8 for straight recording of my composing process. It has 2 Line inputs for stereo keyboard hookup as well as XLR inputs for mixers etc. So, in addition to live recording (if needed), I thought it would be perfect to jot down ideas and perhaps make finished unedited recordings. It records up to 96khz, 24 bit. Anyone have one of these and was interested in your experience with it. Thanks, Anthony
  14. Hi Guy's, Sorry to revive my own thread, but still trying to figure out what to do with this purchase. I've seen some video's of the new MacBook Pro with the presenter claiming that there is very little difference in performance between a MacBook Pro with 16GB and one with 32GB. The only real difference according to him was the swapping of data on the SSD. It seems that all of your opinions above are valid and just a matter of personal preference. While I know that I could probably get away with running 1 Piano VST and a DAW on a Mac Mini or Macbook Air with 16GB to record Solo Piano tracks, it's the other concern about also using this setup to load multi gigabyte libraries. While it's true that the sample libraries can be loaded on an external drive, I'm more concerning with constant loading of samples into 16GB of ram AND if the M1 processor is good enough to scale up to live performance with large libraries. The difference between a M1 Mac Mini or Macbook Air w/ 16GB AND a MacBook Pro 14" with 32BG is about $1,000 dollars or so. I really don't want to spend the extra money if I can avoid it. But I don't want to say later on that I should have gone with the MacBook Pro. Live playing with these large libraries is NOT being planned at the moment. But I would like to possibly use them for home use since I've already purchased them. ..... Unless I can re-sell the software libraries, I have Komplete 12 Collectors Series and Keyscape which I bought a long time ago (as well as other titles), that I've never used, since I did not have the PC to run them. Komplete was on sale when I purchased it. I also have 10-15 other titles purchased over the last 10 years, but would not even know how to offer them. Stuff like Vienna Symphonic Library, Garritan etc., East West Moderator - please excuse me for mentioning that here... just a train of thought and related to the subject at hand. ~ Thanks, Anthony
  15. Thank you for mentioning that guy's. I find now that I have quite a few older software that I would like to sell. I purchased the titles 10 years ago, but for the most part, they are still being sold. For example Vienna Strings, Garritan, Drum Software etc. So, hopefully they are still a viable purchase. I have since replaced with Kontakt Complete Collectors Series and KeyScape, so with Mainstage I feel that I will have all that I need, In all honesty, although the interface of the Arturia Keylab has everything you would need, I actually prefer a weighted keyboard to this one. But being a controller, I can understand this option. I did not need another 88 key weighted keyboard however. I think I may list this. Thanks, Anthony
  16. Hello Again Elmer, I would lean towards the IMAC in a moment with the exception that it is not portable. I have an older 2015 5k IMAC with 32GB (holds 64 unofficially) that I do for regular computer and online use, and it does get bogged down with too many Firefox windows open. But the 5k screen is great, so I know what your saying. Originally, I was going to use this as a music PC but this has become my main standard use PC instead. Like I mentioned, I think a fully specked Mac Mini would really be the best choice for me, but those aren't being made available until July I think. Running multi-gigabyte sample libraries via external SSD is an option. But do you think USB-3 is good enough or would you need external Thunderbolt drives to load samples and off-line projects in real time?
  17. Hey Everyone, I'm thinking about possibly letting go of my Arturia Keylab 61 Mk. II It's only been used twice, and is in MINT condition. Anyway, I have a question before I decide to list it. The software that it came with has been already registered to me. Are the licenses for the software transferable? I do not remember whether the software was a download from the Arturia site or a CD-ROM. Regards, Anthony
  18. Thanks Elmer and Docubop - in looking at the Specs, i agree with you on the minimum 32 GB Ram. In checking out everything though, I believe that the increased RAM is only available in the M1 MAX / Pro versions and the standard M1 Chip is only available with 16 GB both in the Mac Mini and Macbook Air. But these configurations with a minimum of 1 TB SSD cost significantly more money. Warm Regards, Anthony
  19. Hey Everyone Would like your opinion on a possible MAC Mini or Macbook Laptop purchase based on two different usage scenarios: Scenario 1 1) Recording of 1 -10 tracks on an entry level DAW (FL Studio, Cubase) or Logic 2) VST - Ravenscroft Piano or other Piano VST - no other VST's loaded except for possibly Mainstage 3) Possible addition of Music Notation software 4) Possibly Live Performance in addition to mostly Home Use - if so also Ableton Live Need to compose and produce pro-level tracks - mostly piano only for streaming and CD distribution --------------------------------------- Scenario 2 1) Recording of 24-32 plus tracks on an appropriate version of the DAW's mentioned above. 2) VST - Ravenscroft, Mainstage, Keyscape, Kontact Ultimate, Ivory, Trillion etc, Spitfire Libraries 3) Also loading 1-2 SWAM instruments 4) Possibly LIVE PERFORMANCE - if so also Ableton Live If keeping the computer at home - a similarly specked M1 Mac Mini and Macbook Air with 16BK and a 1TB SSD comes in at just a couple of hundred dollars more, so no real problem there. BUT Other more expensive MacBook M1 MAX models allow more ram 32/64 and larger SSD'd - of course this adds to the cost considerably. ALSO Is it OK to run only 16GB with a 1 TB SSD on the base M1 chip in either scenario with external SSD's like the Samsung T7 USB3 drive or would an external Thunderbolt drive be needed for a closer performance level to the internal SSD? Can I keep the sample libraries on an external USB3 without glitching, or would I need to have the libraries on an internal drive OR exteranl Thunderbolt drive Do not want to make a mistake in purchasing - if I could wait until possibly next APRIL would purchase a greater specked Mac Mini since I already have a new (old stock) external display that I can use. So would just need a keyboard and mouse. Lastly - for uploading my recordings, do I really need 10Gb Ethernet (on the Mac Mini) for an extra $90.00 or is 1 GB good enough. Although I do tech support for a living right now, I don't know how these configurations would apply performance wise to the specialized needs above. I know that the M1 chips way outperform the older fully specked Intel chip models. Please assume that despite my general knowledge of laptop and PC's that I don't know how the 16GB / 1 TB internal SSD with USB3 external drives would perform in the 2 situations described above. Particularly with 24-32 tracks of midi prior to and after rendering to separate audio tracks. Warm Regards, Anthony
  20. Don't feel bad about the Receptor - I bought a Trio and then the company went under! I sold the Presonus D/A that came with it. But I spent a lot upgrading it to an SSD and additional RAM, and THEN it didn't work right. Something to do with the Kontackt instruments updater, which kept restarting the unit when changing patches. So, I needed to have it worked on remotely (for hours) by a very gracious former staff member of MUSE RESEARCH that I was put in touch with. In total - the purchase cost me over $3k and a trade in of my former MUSE RECEPTOR, which at that point due to compatibility issues with new software, was basically a large paperweight! I was so angry about it, that I haven't really played with the unit since. I guess you live and learn! By the way, I still have it. It looks like it just came out of the box, because I haven't touched it. The only reason I've kept it is because Ivory pianos and a older version of Kontakt is loaded onto it. But since I've also purchased the Kontakt upgrade for computer use, it really makes no sense to use it. I'm glad that you were able to sell yours Dave. Regards, AnthonyM
  21. Happy Birthday Dave, It was great meeting you at the Keyboard Player hang out the other day! Regards, Anthony M
  22. My deepest condolences go out to Michael and Scott. I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
  23. RIP Jimmy ~ My Heartfelt Sympathy to his family, friends and brothers on the forum. This is very sad news. In today's health climate you can't take anything for granted, whether it's a small get together, a larger gathering or even a couple of people you come into contact with in passing. There is nothing that we can do except to try to remain vigilant protecting ourselves and our families. Pending effective treatment to minimize the effects of the virus or a vaccine to ward against it, this is the only option we have. Unfortunately this is of no comfort for those who may need to expose themselves to the possibility of infection in order to work as full time musicians or in other fields. Although some people need to do this in order to feed their families and take care of themselves financially, it shouldn't be a decision anyone needs to make. Let's hope that a viable cure is developed and implemented soon. Again, my deepest sympathy to everyone on this tragic loss. ~ Anthony
  24. Ronald, you have my deepest condolences. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. ~ Anthony M.
