  1. Tneir is Synth Britannia, have you seen it?
  2. Holding out for the the Grandfather edition. Limited memory, fat, reminds you constantly of the past.
  3. I never liked the sound of his C3 at the Black Moon era onwards, it sounded pretty digital and low in the mix compared to the classic stuff. Not sure what Goff did to it, or maybe it was just recording methods. I do remember watching the Albert Hall gig on DVD and thinking it just doesn't sound as fat as the 70's live output. I presume the extravagance of banks of custom Leslie's were abandoned for a more low key affordable affair, which would explain a fair amount.
  4. We don't know his situation, he may not have had as much as you think. Sure he sold a lot of stuff out a storage place must be 20 years ago. I recall reading in Keyboard Review, possibly before moving to US from England. One thing does grab me, where is the GX1
  5. And the modular? What became of that? Had to happen sooner or later, such a sad end to the last couple of years.
  6. This is my gig gear, using a BX3 with the HX3. Cars big enough I can load the proper wood stand in assembled with the organ. Looks and sounds the business. Organ probably weighs about 80kg in its case so it's a workout at times. photo image hosting
  7. Don't get me wrong, Wurlitzers are fairly hefty, but it's in a small package, there isn't another two octaves and possibly a control interface to the side to add to the hassle of moving it. You can quite comfortably pick it up length ways as well as front to back. You'd not want to lift it upstairs too often. My old KeyB Duo weighed 25 kg and I couldn't do anything with it on my own.
  8. Wurli is definitely a one person job Aidan, you can put it under your arm. it's not heavy.
  9. Why? Why would you continuously go back to a company that gave you poor craftsmanship? It truly is bizarre the almost hypnotic effect a Crumar product has.
  10. Get a second hand Electro and be done with it. It's not reinventing the wheel and I can guarantee there'll be tears for some.
  11. Will it have the same outstanding build quality as the other Crumar products?
  12. i was going to go PX5S route but now that I have latched onto this I think I'm going to go for it. I'm only 40 miles from Gear4Music. Having said that, it's £300 more expensive than the PX5S. I presume I'm getting more for my money.
  13. Wjen I first got mine I was adamant I couldn't tune it. But then I saw the prices people were charging and quickly learnt how to do it. It's made a lot easier by having tne Peterson strobe tuner on iPhone. You don't even need to power the Wurli on to tune it as there is enough residual sound from the reeds to do it. It also means your not having to repeatedly turn the Wurli off when bending over the live wires on the volume pot
  14. I just ordered a Warneck amp for mine. Mines not bad noise wise but past 70% on the volume pot, it's quite apparent. Gearing up to rent some of my stuff out so wanting it as good as possible. 200A amps noticeably quieter than 200
  15. Wurlitzer is a beautifully crafted instrument inside, makes the Rhodes look extremely primitive from a design point of view. Wurli cuts through nicely and fits in a lot of genres. I'd also say trade. Make sure all your reeds are intact though. They are pricey to replace. I'm getting a piano tech to adjust the let off and lost motion on mine as well as key rebushing, but mine is from 1968.
  16. The chorus at the moment sounds more like my friends 1950's B3, once again not a bad thing, but having used an early 70's C3 for 20 years, there's more going on with the chorus than the B3 my friend has. Other than that tne tone is really good, better than the KeyB, the C2D I owned the last ten years. Running it through a Speakeasy preamp into a 145 which will be my gig rig.
  17. Had to look up what smh meant. Is it 'so much hate' or 'shake my head' Like all of them, they are good enough, happy to take the upgrade on the BX3 and happy not to purchase a Crumar product You may think the chorus is great out of the Gemini box, I may not have the same opinion. A lot of people think tne HX3 is 'great out of the box", I may disagree. Opinions are like.....well you know the rest. That's rather a precise tweak time you have given me. When I asked about the switch on procedure being normal, your first two words were "Don't know", but then carried on anyway. Any need to have even replied? Don't shake your head too much, concussion is a serious risk.
  18. Had a few days with HX3. Sounds great, chorus needs some adjustment. It's on factory at the moment, and I would say it's not any better than the KeyB Duo Mk1 from 2008 I had, in its current factory state. Not a bad thing. But I'd expect to be able to get closer to my C3, if I could be bothered to sit in a cold garage side by side with them.
  19. Scrap that it was something else in chain
  20. Got my module. Quick question. It seems I need to power BX3 on first then module otherwise it's not detecting notes if I power hx3 on first. Is that normal?
  21. Thanks M_G, that's some really useful info that I can map from the organ instead from the HX3 side. It is tne 2nd generation. Rare as hens teeth, certainly in the UK, only seen this two including this one for sale ever used. I believe they were very expensive at the time. Got it for peanuts because tne shop thought tne Leslie switch didn't work when in fact it was disabled in the menu. I'm just in the process of modifying the wood stand so it folds on hinges instead of an assembly of bolts.
  22. I must admit, I did factor in LX88's attention to detail in my choice! Anyway, one things for sure it'll be a marked improvement on my BX3. And yes I bought new
  23. The deal is done. I hope this to be the springboard I need to feel better and play more which are related. Anyway, I cashed in on an HX3. Not too fussed about the update procedure as I used to own a Receptor! Way behind the curve though, I have a s***load of reading to do on this. And songs to learn. I almost feel like a musician again.
  24. What's the current state of the HX3 sound? Are we still talking en-par with VB3-2, better -worse? Chorus? I'm looking to run through a real 145 so Leslie sim isn't important, just the basic tone. I need a module to run with my 2001 Korg BX3, and it's either this or the Gemini Desktop. However, I am very reluctant to try another Crumar product as I have twice had some poor QC s**t to deal with from them. The only upside is that I found a stockist who offers a 60 day trial and 3 year warranty. So on basic tone and using with a Leslie, which one is tops? Is the HX3 chorus as nice as the VB3? Been out the loop a fair while. Been out of playing quite a long time too, and have just managed to try and play live again. Had (and still have to be fair) major depression exacerbated by multiple hand surgeries. Lost total confidence in playing because of it and stopped. My hands not too bad, I can't click my fingers now I presume because of scar tissue and I have trouble with some voicing like a #9 chord where I'm playing white to black key on top like a G7#9 one hand voicing. Need to try and stretch my hand out more and increase span. So I thought to encourage me to get out there again I would treat myself to an upgrade on my BX3
