  1. I was hoping there would be a follow up to the Krome/Kronos- I've had the Krome for 7 + years and realize they did the EX though.
  2. Hello, is there a program list available anywhere? I was wondering if it included my favorite Combination from the Triton LE- Trancy Euphoria
  3. There are some pretty good videos on YouTube. One of them demonstrates the control, of Logic if I remember correctly. Thanks- I'll look for it. Currently I am using Mixcraft and can use my tablet next to the keyboard to control stop/start and some other minor things but am looking from something more seamless and this ROland sounds like it has some possibilities
  4. I wonder if Korg will counter with something in 2020? I am tempted to get a Kronos but feel as soon as I would get one they would upgrade. I use the Krome but more for writing and as an interface into my computer. Roland mentions this will interface with DAW's? How so, will it allow one to start/stop the DAW througn the roland itself? I'm looking for better workflow. It just feels so unnatural having the keyboard connected right next to the PC - I do like the vst's, being able to change effects and mastering. Does anyone have any suggestions in the meantime? I'm trying to figure out what is driving this Fantom to a Kronos price. Although the Juno Gi I had for several years did not have great sounds, it had a built in 8 track digital recorder with 4 sliders, preamps and various effects and I could do a simple master on it. Although my current setup with the VST's and Steinberg interface (better preamps) yields better sounds, it is sometimes tedious. Therefore, its a little hard for me to get totally excited about the Fantom when essentially I still need a computer- perhaps one can export tracks into a DAW as that would be beneficial.
  5. With full time work I tend to go out more on weekends- mostly a songwriting group I am in but days of open mics during the week at cofee places or bars are gone. I'm sure I miss out on a lot but thats how it is. I do attend around 25-30 various concerts a year but then that can eat into my creative time.
  6. https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_instruments/pianos/accessories/sc-kb850/index.html Here is a link to the Yamaha case- online they are around $100
  7. I'm going to try the B2- 15 watts from each speaker would be decent in that price range. The SP280 had around 20 watts in each and was quite powerful- but the action was always clicky from the get go and week despite acousitc pianos I liked. I traded it in finally for perhaps $200 6 years later. B&H Photo had the Yamaha case- I had them send it to me its called the SC-KB850- its on backorder though. But the front compartment holds the music rest. It doesn't have wheels so the weight is only 3 pounds or so- different than the road runner I used for my privia.
  8. That won't eliminate the effect of the board being tilted, so you're still not giving you an idea of how the keys really play. It's not your angle relative to the keys that needs to be adjusted, it's the keys' angle relative to gravity. Unlike a non-hammer action, hammer actions depend on gravity to manage the mechanics. The more off-from-horizontal a hammer action is, the less properly functional it is, until you get to a point where it is not playable at all... and this phenomenon cannot be compensated for by altering your angle of attack, because gravity still comes from the same place. This really annoyed me about GC- I posted this earlier- here they were the only place at the time with the 1000/3000 and had them up high and with NO pedal!! Luckily SAM had them at a normal height.
  9. One key either had a bad contact and the note would cut off while playing it. On the second one D3 would rub with E3- this would lead to a click and no sound from E3 from what I remember. In both cases, it made the piano unusable- this wasn't a case of key spacing, or heights etc... My Es8 is the finest piano I have owned, and while I liked the concept of the ES110 it just didn't work out- I didn't find the bass area great either- this is something I am picky about as I play less classical now and more rock and blues. After 2 bad units- I wasn't going to risk a third - I found the P125 better suited for me despite preferring the ES110's action.
  10. Hi Jim, the Sam Ash near Penn Station has always been an excellent place to try pianos out- I find more so than GC although the one on 14th street is decent compared to the times square one. Sam Ash was the only place for me to try the ES8 out and I immediately got one a few months later. They said they had a P515 from time to time but I have yet to see one nor a Grandstage in a store. I had originally ordered a ES110 as my portable (traded in Juno Gi/PX130 and Korg SP280) and had 2 bad units and wasn't impressed with the speakers nor bass sounds. In between the first ES110 exchange I heard the P125 and was totally WOWED by it. The sound that came out of the speakers was CLEAR the mid range and bass notes sounded musical. I owned a P95 and a 105 breifly and this was defintely and upgrade (even superior over the P115) I ended up getting the Yamaha case- note the piano at 6 and half inches high will not fit in most keyboard cases. The sound projects well out of the speakers in a small room- and I am going to hook it up to my Electrovoice ZXA-90 someday. After playing the P125 I would probably buy a P515 as a home unit without even trying one out. I am that convinced. I also find the P125 Rhodes to be decent for the $500 range. I don't do any edits but sometimes switch the piano sounds- I don't think it has any tone edits like some of the other boards but of course reverb can be edited. After my second bad ES110 I decided on the P125 and have had it for almost a year. I'm glad you mentioned it because on the other board there seems to be too much love for the 1000 and 3000 and I don't think they hold up to the 125 in every area. No question 1000/3000 action is a little more realistic but I find the P125 more natural. Korg is coming out with the B2 but in my opinion (and I am a HUGE Korg fan, owned the Triton LE, have the Krome , had the SG Prox piano module which was my favorite item ever) the Natural Hammer Action is terrible - and won't serve their pianos well. SP280 had nice speakers and a nice sound, but NH was dreadful.
  11. @Dave Ferris- I haven't been able to try out a P515 so far, but given I like my P125 and liked other Yamaha pianos (I used the CP33 on a few cruise ships and liked the P255) I am considering just getting it without trying- one of the retailers sent me a 20% coupon so I could get it for $1,200.
  12. I prefer the P125- to me the piano sound is much more natural and the bass sounds out of the speaker are more musical. I'd rather have GHS over Casio action with a sound I don't like as much
  13. I'm sticking with my ES8 - all in one for me with Rhodes/AP and speakers and some editing capabilities. My #2 would be the Grandstage but would only converge to $1,700 after a 20% coupon I believe or perhaps close.
  14. I'm sorry that my reply with go a little off topic here but- I played it a few times and don't get me wrong- I think it's very nice. ( A little busy in the layout though)- However- going back 18 years.... I was much more excited about the original Motif. It had a better keybed, both Steinway and Yamaha pianos- (arguably the Modx sounds better I'm sure). I'm in a holding pattern- I would consider getting it but feel as though someday Korg might come out with a successor to Kronos.
  15. I believe the PX560 as a pair of 2-way speakers, I assumed the PX-S3000 would as well, but I suppose it could have a pair of full range speakers instead...? When preferring the sound of the PX560, was that acoustic piano sounds, other sounds, or both? Did you have any preference between the feel of the two actions? I thought the actions were similar; I would say that given I didn't love the 1000/3000 Rhodes that the 560 ones were more interesting. (I will still have to go back and try these again). I'm not as familar yet with comparisons between the two- are they intended to have the same acoustic piano sounds? What I am concluding is that having 4 speakers can be important given less amplification. Off topic, my P125 is 2x2 and I can hear the difference. I am one of those who prefers just to turn on and play and not have to connect to external amps. Although I've never considered a 560 due to the price it is defintely something to consider as well.
  16. Thanks for posting- the Scottish Rite in Collignswood is a great venue- I just got though Marcus Roberts in Philadelphia for the same night
  17. I was finally able to try both out in NYC yesterday (at a normal height and with sustain pedals). (I also tried the PX560 which I liked better perhaps somewhat due to 2x2 speakers vs. just 2). Some things I liked- some of the acoustic pianos were clear and sounded great in the mids and highs. Because of the design its still weird that the black keys are higher up as the border in back of them where the pianos usually have logos was slim. However, the speakers get limited when playing bass octaves at mid- volumes - if feels as though the unit is struggling to push air out - vs. my P125 which seems to handle these notes better. Since I have the P125 as a mobile; I'll likely pass on the 1000 for now
  18. I used to love those stores - the last one I saw was in Concord Mall in Del maybe early 2000's when I was there. I loved playing the different Organs and Pianos in stores in the late 70's early 80's-influenced me wanting to play in the first place. Years ago an outlet mall near me had a Sam Ash which was neat.
  19. Dont. Go. There. Sorry I brought it up .ooops. However, as a portable available last summer it serves myself and friends well.
  20. It must be GC instructions! I found the same thing- up high- no pedal- an uncomfortable tryout. I hope to find it differently next time im in NYC. I've had the ES8 for 3 and a half years- its great. To be honest I likely prefer Korg sounds but the ES8 is extremely realistic.
  21. As I have the P125 (but tried the Casio out briefly) - i found that I liked the volume I was getting in the C1-G2 range better on the Yamaha. My P125 replaced my PX130 for the function of playing out. Becuase it is not my home piano I am fine with GHS as a trade off of having portability. I do like the P125 sounds and samples.
  22. I have the same frustration in my area- they refuse to either carry or have them on display. It's like they don't care about selling keyboards. I see you are on Long Island- I was in NYC a week and a half ago and they had the 1000 at both Sam Ash and Guitar Center (yet had them up high and with no pedal connected!) so I couldn't give a 100% review
  23. Great list Jazz+- the one that stands out to me is Still Crazy by Paul Simon as well as Rosalinda's Eyes by Billy Joel. The Motif had some of my favorite phaser type sounds
  24. Is there a way also to find out which retailers carry these? I find in general across all models that often these stores don't carry items beacuse they feel people might buy them online anyway.
  25. If the objective of these boards is to some extent a portable then why no love for the Yamaha P125? I've taken it out and it sounds great especially in the mid and mid-low range. Of course everyone will mention GHS which I can understand, but there are other boards out there like the FA-30 for instance as well.
