Hi guys,
First of all, I'm new here, so thank you for having me here! smile
I am looking for a new guitar amp, but I don't have a lot of money to spend on it. Currently I'm playing on a Fender Mustang, but I would like to do a little "upgrade" if you could call it like that. I've found a little blog on 5 guitar amps that are not too expensive (https://guitarclicks.home.blog/2019/08/02/5-guitar-amplifiers-for-beginners/). I've heared the Boss Katana is a good amp to choose and heared a lot of positive things about it for the price.
I am a metal guitarist so I like the amp to have a little bit of a "chugging" sound, if you know what I mean.

What do you guys think?
Thank you!

What’s your budget?

Are you willing to buy used? Online?

Where do you live? (Location affects price and availability.)

What bands/guitarists do you want to emulate?

Do you have a need for any special features, like headphone jacks for quiet practice, pedal and/or amp modeling, etc?

Welcome Aboard Swaggertoos! That Boss Katana is lightweight and light on the pocket book and is getting good reviews...it would be worth having a look-see. Boss has a good reputation. cool

Take care, Larryz

How about a Fender Super Champ X2 I had one once, and it did clean, and it did blues, and metal, all as presets which can be edited and saved with the app they supply for free..

Welcome Swagger Toos.
The Vox vt series have some good metal settings. I have an older 40 that I use occasionally for ac tones. I don't know which Mustang you have, but if you like it you could upgrade to a larger one.

Something good on the cheap that stands completely on its own. The Katana 100.

The 50 is OK but spend a little extra and get the extra headroom and buy the 100. Get the footswitch eventually it gives you twice the available presets. I play high dollar vintage and Modern tube amps. (Vintage because I'm old and have owned these amps a longtime). I gig with the Katana. I prefer my Mesa Boogies for guitar but the Katana does a lot of things well. Acoustic instruments, steel guitars and metal it's a jack of all trades. It chugs. Ola likes the Katana. If you want a cabinet head instead of a combo Thomann sells a Harley Benton 212 cabinet with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers for less money than a pair of V30s cost alone.
