Pretty scary. Accidental dosage was a big fear of mine back in the day, when people didn't respect boundaries like they do now. That can lead to suicide or death by accident, when it catches someone unawares. Lucky thing he made it out intact.

One strange trip of a story but if you were anywhere around the 'Pranksters' in those days you truly were flying over the Cuckoo's nest from all that I have read of them and know and remember from those times....somehow, this doesn't surprise me on one level!

Great stuff, thank you!

I got dosed once at a campus keg party and it scared the crap out of me until I ran into someone else who was having the same problem and had figured it out.

Someone spiked something (food, not drink) at a party back in the mid-80's for a bunch of co-workers. I should have known better than to eat what he brought, but it was hard for me to believe that the "boundaries" issue of the 60's and 70's was still a "thing" and especially amongst top-paid engineers.

He was into EVERYTHING, so it's hard to know what he did, but he certainly thought he was doing us all a "favour". As someone who doesn't drink, smoke, do aspirin, caffeine, etc. and has never tried ANY drugs, and also as the potluck dish was presented as any other, you can imagine what it did to me when I started hallucinating, not knowing what drug he had spiked us with.

I have received various assessments over the years from people who DO (or did) use drugs, based on my description in detail of what transpired, but they are not all in agreement.

FWIW, the people I know in their 20's DO respect boundaries, and when I went to Denver a couple of years ago, I was amazed at how respectful people were (especially compared to Berkeley). It's a real issue for me as I am allergic to all hemp products and anything related to lavender (the latter is in many cosmetics and also often used as incense to cover up the smell of the former).

Shhh, listen. Did you hear that? That's the sound of the market value of vintage Buchla synths creeping upward as this story spreads...

I can't even conceive of how weird it would be to be tinkering with the innards of a Buchla Synthesizer all the while tripping on acid and not knowing it.

Behringer should clone the LSD Buchla.

The bass player dosed our whole band before a 5 hour gig back in the '90s. He ended up in the hospital with broken fingers. He never could play bass after that occurrence, he never put anything in my drink again either.

I'm officially stumped by this one. Every joke that occurs to me is too awful to post, even on here. You're welcome.

Or not. rimshot

I live with multiple forms of synesthesia involving color associations, tactile sensations (i.e. feeling ideas as shapes in my mouth), hearing with my eyes and seeing with my ears.

Not uncommon with musicians.
