Thanks, Lee - well, you can't always see everything, can you?

How's about $5000 for a Fender neck, then?

At first I thought it was some sort of eBay glitch: Latin countries use the comma rather than the point as a decimal separator and that can confuse eBay.

I've sometimes bid "29,01" on some Brit or American item only to have eBay ask me to confirm my bid for "2,901.00" At first I thought the same thing might happen with German bids.

But hell, no... he wants 99 pounds for shipment as well.

And, hey. Congratulations on becoming a grandfather! :D First you go platinum, then you're a grandfather... where will it all end! :D:thu:

Well it's actually overpriced by about $2000 to $3000 USD to buy it at the roughly $7000 it's listed for.

If assembled for sale as a 1964 Strat you'd need to buy the pickguard loaded with dated material to pull it off and find "any old body" that could be "vintaged" to resemble a 1964 blonde or sonic blue. Then you could comfortably join the thousands of common everyday rip-off dealers who sell used Fenders!

Fenders are bolt-ons and Fender only placed serial numbers on one (1) part of the guitar. [neck, body or stupid neck plate thing] There are markings on pots, pickups, caps sometimes stuff written on pickguards.

Want to build a vintage Fender out of parts and make a few thousand $$$$ ??? Just buy the parts with the serial numbers and fake the rest!

It happens every day.

I'd say most vintage Fenders out there now are justifiably open to heavy scrutiny as a result of this con game.

If you watch... you'll see these floating through ebay all the time.

I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

as far as that goes, i could care less if the neck was pried from Leo's hands as soon as he personally made it and sealed in a time capsule.

i like strats but c'mon. what is the point?

nice price on the sellers pickguards!

but guess what i bet he sells the stuff to some lawyer or doctor collector.

ths whole vintage= high price thing is stupid in my opinion.

if the guitar was mint and a real player with great tone than i could see a higher than normal price.

and who are the idiots stripping guitars and selling the parts separate?

refretted and the tuner holes were enlarged?

great it is mint  !!

Yeah... I was pretty amazed at that too. That helped me understand that the price might not be a typo! :D He's got thousands of feedback points though, apparently from pretty mundane things (pan pots and so on) sold at pretty mundane prices.

Maybe you can assemble a Pacifica with the parts and pee all over yourself while playing it! ;)

The following was posted over on ther Lowdown by RPMNYC:

Re: music-outlet-shop on ebay. I was suspicious after the guy (who is listed as Frank Schauer, Oranjehofstr.29 50769 Cologne, Germany, e-mail: music-outlet@gmx.de Tel.: +49 221/2788734) did not return any phone calls or emails. I spoke to some friends in Cologne who own music stores, and they tell me it's the same guy that used to have a store called "Mega Music", which changed names every year or so. This guy has the reputation of being seriously dodgy, to the point of possible criminal activities. He was known some years ago for shipping containerloads of guitars from the US in various states and piecing together not-quite-correct items at way too high of prices. Also, the neighborhood in which this address is located is a great place to get mugged and NOT a part of town in which any reputable business would operate. Buyer beware...he often has upwards of a THOUSAND guitars on ebay at any given time, and should you ever have an issue the chance of your even communicating with him to resolve it are nil.

I also had a bad Ebay experience with this guy - he sent me abusive emails - but I got my goods.

His stuff is regularly 'way over the top pricewise.

I'll *NEVER* deal with him again, and IMHO, neither should you.

Yes indeed! I have taken this individual to task on several occasions. They had a honeyburst 1958 LP / mutilation at one time and I asked questions that yielded no replies.

There were quite a few bastardizations that came through this idiot and he / they never seemed to think that it mattered in the least.

Passing crap and corruption as fine instruments and writing them up as vaguely as possible.

I haven't seen anything from him for some time now but recall the checkerboard tiled floor in the background of the pictures.

I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.
