webe123
A few weeks ago I took my fender 57 reissue stratocaster (US made) to the guitar shop to stop some buzzing that occured. I found out upon inspection by the guitar store owner, that the guitar was soon due for a fret job! It would cost about $150.00 which was not bad at all! But recently I purchased a Gibson Les Paul Studio and also really like the sound of it. The only problem was that I wanted only ONE electric guitar onstage, because besides those two, I have a Taylor 312ce accoustic/electric as well as a Fender Roland ready MIDI stratocaster. So I wanted only one electric guitar because stage space is limited where I play at my church. I started thinking about EITHER a strat OR Les Paul, but was not comfortable with either decision! So I checked around different stores and looked at various models, but kept comming back to a Paul Reed Smith Guitar. I know of their reputation, but that alone did NOT impress me. What really made me think about owning one, was what all of the former and current owners had to say about them. Even people who did not like PRS guitars admitted that they were well made! Just overpriced...which on their new models I will readily agree! But I started looking around on ebay and noticed that there were some beautiful models that had not been nicked or scratched at all! I was especially interested in a model that had P-90 pickups. Why? Because P-90s get a decent in between sound of a strat and a paul. Not perfect, but what is?(they DO get a clearer sound on the low end than a humbucker and not as ear piercing highs on the upper registers! Just waht I am looking for!) Anyway, I found a beautiful PRS Mcarty Model with P-90 pickups and bird inlays in PERFECT CONDITION going for much less that many of the Mcartys I had seen on ebay with nicks and scratches! So I went ahead and put some of my money with the money I made from selling my 57 strat and gibson les paul studio and this is what I am getting! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2578590480&category=33045 MAN AM I EXCITED! I can't WAIT until I can hold her in my hands! First thing I am getting is some jim dunlop straplocks for her! Then a nice WIDE strap. Though they say the Mcartys are not that heavy! Mabye this will be what I have always wanted....mabye not. Who knows? But I really can't lose on this, because if for some reason in the future I decide to sell it and I keep it in great shape as it is now. I can get just about anything else I want! But for now I think I will be pleased with this. It is a drop dead gorgous guitar with the electronics I wanted and built very well. Not a "10" top, but I don't care! For the price, it is a great deal! I am a happy man!
