What's your current project?

Recommended Posts

I just finished up a full-length CD that's taken a while by my band Nectar (I play guitar and keyboards in this band). It's atmospheric groove rock. It includes a fine version of "Stranglehold", which has been severely Nectarized. I am happy with how the recordings came out, although I was outvoted by the band on some mixing issues on five of the songs -- and quite frankly, the mixes still bother me a bit. Aside from that, I'm happy with the musical results!!! I've got a few more projects headed my way, but I've been unable to sit properly for a while due to a bad back (been at home all week because I can't even sit in a car, and everything I do hurts immensely). I've had chronic back problems for the past eleven years. Yoga helps, but the pain still keeps coming back. It's lumbar-sacral muscle strain from having a very long spine, three car accidents, high stress, etc. ------------------ Ken/Eleven Shadows/d i t h er/Nectar http://www.elevenshadows.com 4 music, travel, more! http://www.cdbaby.com/elevenshadows

I took a mix I just finished (well, is it ever REALLY finished?) over to be mastered yesterday for an indie artist's new CD. My song got the album title. It should be available in about two-three weeks - looking forward to that. It's kinda/sorta a DIDO-type sound with a little Sarah McLaughlin influence. Now I'm taking a day off and then over the weekend I'll be selecting one of my many, unfinished songs to start working on again. I also have to close a young artist on a 3-song demo deal with me. I also have to get some stuff out to the tipsheets... ------------------ Larry W.

Surprisingly, for me, this has become my favorite thread on this forum. My next online purchase will be d guass' new record. The site is great, and the band seems like it should be right up my alley. (Bud Light commercial voice) "I love you guys, man!" Steve (still medicated...)

I am recording a choir festival in a nearby church tomorrow. 18 choirs directly on two tracks

"Jam Band" with a local standup bass player who is into looping and "found sounds" and a sort of deconstructionist drummer... This is the "easy maintenance gig band" for now... "Improv Experimental Project" incorporating the before mentioned bass player doing loops and myself, with basically no rules... This gets extreamely far out, but hopefully entertaining. Good for a gig once a month. "The Current Now Re-evaluated Acoustic Coffee Shop Project" which is being renovated into a more "standard" form of solo new age-ish guitar. "The Music for Non-Existent Films Project" - holding pattern. Originally meant for a "Happening" at a local nightspot, I'm ignoring this for fear of producing too moody sounding music due to my present state of mind. Want to get the Gift from Dan keyboard happening with it, but scared to do so... "The Blues-Based Vocal Project" - defunct apparently. Real singers do not exist anymore apparently. "the Light Jazz/BET Jazz Wedding Band Project" - drummer is in France, bass player sketching out, defunct. "The Guitar-oriented Demo Recording Project" - something I probably should lean towards? "The Guitar Lesson Accompaniment Recording Project" - music meant to go along with an instructional book. Probably should be a priority, I dunno.. I'm exploding into nothingness. ------------------ New and Improved Music Soon: http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald

Currently redesigning studio plans to accomodate a bed and breakfast as well. Mini-resort kind of approach - log cabin/studio sleeps 4, tracks up to 8 simultaneously. Location: sunshine coast BC, private, tall cedar-treed one-acre lot 200 feet from beach on the pacific ocean. Here's a pic of the general area from the water: As far as projects go, will be handling post for an environmental documentary as soon as the screenplay is finished. Community effort to save a mountain (the closest one in the pic) and watershed from aggressive logging. Anyway, that's about it right now...will post some pics once the cabin is built and the gear is in there.. Aaahhh.... work!!! Current projects? I'm still recording every weekend at Zipper Hall here in LA. It's a great hall with great acoustics. The LA Phil, LA Mozart, and LA Baroque Orchestras use it often. We also get all sorts of other great recitals there: www.colburnschool.org I've also just been confirmed as a live sound engineer for the Salt Lake Winter Olympics in 2002. I'll be working at the Utah Olympic Oval for all the speed skating competitions. Check out the venue here: http://www.slc2002.org/ It's a really amazing rink they've just built for this event. I hope they let me on that ice after hours! If you go to the web site they have a full 360 view of the inside! I'm excited!!! If any of you will be there lemme know! I'm also working for the sound company who is doing the Winter Olympics right now. I'm helping coordinate the entire audio team and the install of the audio system. Kinda cool... Big corporate sound company (ProMix/PRG).. lots and LOTS of paperwork.... www.prg.com In just a couple of weeks I'll be doing both live sound and a recording of Inside Radio's broadcasting conference. There will be some very big players in radio who will be talking about the future. It should be VERY interesting... Would EQ like a report? http://www.insideradio.com/ Web site for the event: http://www.insideradio.com/radioflyin/index.shtml I've also been busy updating my company's web site: www.vsoundinc.com I'm still remodeling my studio so I don't have new pictures up quite yet.... Feedback is always appreciated! Oh well... back to work... Yawn.. when do I sleep??? I almost hesitated putting in my little projects given the breadth of the aforementioned ones.....but what the hell....its a free country! : ) I've been recording little demos for a solo project that I'll be doing with my son, who is a percussionist. I was working with a member of another local band, the Blind Venetians, but since two of the members are native NYers they bolted and headed north last month to assist. Its funny....I record stuff at night during the week using a click and a POD and wait till the weekend to crank an amp up, or record drums. So its slow....very slow, with our sched. But its fun. Its what keeps me alive.
Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in
