zephonic
Hi, I am a keyboardist/composer from The Netherlands, but I have been living in Kenya for the last three-and-a-half years. I believe I am now ready to come and try my luck in the US of A, and I should arrive in NYC by October 1st. My first desire is to play with some serious jazzmusicians and get my --s kicked properly, but ultimately I would like to record and release my album. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated. local: Korg Nautilus 61 AT | Yamaha MODX8 away: GigPerformer | 16" MBP M1 Max home: Kawai RX-2 | Korg D1 | Roland Fantom X7
BluesKeys
Not from NYC, and have never been there. But the easiest place to get embarrased is at a Jazz jam. I am sure you can find them all over the city. My suggestion is to show up and give a listen before you sit it. But Good Luck you are stepping into a BIG fish bowl. MidLifeCrisis
I cant remember the name of the thread but a couple of months ago the musical merits of getting started in each of the major US cities was discussed. You may want to search for that to get some additional ideas. Steve A Lifetime of Peace, Love and Protest Music www.rock-xtreme.com
Dave Pierce
Zephonic, Best of luck to you! Manhattan is a wonderful city, and there is no better place to test your skills against the best and brightest. I'm on the other side of the country, but if you're ever in the San Francisco Bay Area, look me up and we'll hit some blues jams together. --Dave Make my funk the P-funk. I wants to get funked up.
