skynfan
I posted this question in another forum but only got one real response. Hopefully I'll get more here. Can anyone tell me the notes that are being played in I think around the 8th measure in the piano solo of Skynyrd's "I know a little". It sounds like a bunch of notes crammed together. I don't really know how to describe it. I think he plays it with both hands very close together. This is the only part of the solo I can't figure out. Thanks in advance for any help. The Real MC
Where is the measure of interest? Is it played over A, D, or E?
jimw
I think the part you're referring to is something like; ||: E D# D C A :|| (sorta sliding off the D# to the D) At least I think that's the way I used to play it.
Trill
I plugged a midi file into BIAB and this is what I got. D# gracenote to E and A and then roll back to an A an octave lower and then just keep rolling through that arppeggio with a shuffle feel
skynfan
For The Real MC, I think it's over D. It's the measure right before the trill and piano gliss. He uses this riff in other solos too. Any help is appreciated.
stoo schultz
That riff then is A-D# D C (the hyphen means play together, and the A is the highest note in the riff) repeated as fast as you can for two measures (the 5th and 6th of the 12 bars). The fingering I think that works is 5 on the A, 3 on the D#, slide 3 to the D, then 2 on the C. The 7th measure (before the gliss) isn't a trill, it's D D# E G repeated as fast as you can, fingering probably 1 2 2 4.
