acid 4.0 latency

I'm trying to use "the grand" vst with acid 4.0 but the latecy is terrible ? any suggestions ? I can use it in sonar with no problem but it really is delayed in acid. I've tried changing the latency numbers on my sound card (both up and down)what's the deal ?

In my experience, Acid's ability to actually use Midi and VST's is bullsh*t. It doesn't work.

 

Anyone else have better luck???

As of right now I would have to agree ! I can't seem to get ANY VST's to work without a huge latency.

i think that acid by default uses "microsfot sound mapper" drivers that have loooong latency.

 

optiopns -> preferences -> audio to check if you use your "real" drivers.

I've been able to do ok with soft synths in acid, but let me ask,"Why use acid for midi when you have sonar." sonar's midi editing is so much better. If you want to use acid just render the file to wave and open it in acid as a one-shot. Maybe I'm missing something.

Acid latency about matches Cubase when you use ASIO drivers.

 

I like the Acid interface for sketchpadding - I usually DO record my midi there, unless it's a proprietary Steinberg instrument, or unless I'm using NO loops - and that hardly ever happens...
