Analogaddict
They really set a new standard for interplay and solo performance in a rock'n'roll kind of context. I can´t think of any other band at the time creating such a beautiful blend of rock, soul, country, art music and just about anything. To be able to blend hit songs like 'The Weight' with Garth Hudson´s quirky sounds and letting each member shine as much as the other - even in terms of lead vocals - is a rare thing. Robbie Robertson's lyrics are really beautiful too, tracks like 'Acadian Driftwood' and 'The Shape I´m In' and 'The W.S Walcott Medicine Show' paint beautiful pictures on their own; every single aspect of the Band was outstanding, from recordings to live gigs and the grand finale 'Last Waltz'. Hats off, that was one hell of a band! /J nas
