Kris
It all started with a little reoccuring heartburn. My doc noticed my heart murmur and since it had never really been investigated, he referred me for an Echo Cardiogram. Well I must say that as an audio engineer, this was the coolest machine I've ever seen! The nurse taped three sensors in a triangle shape around my chest area, and then held a transducer directly over where my heart is. This transducer emits sound waves at approx 2.5GHz ! Extremely high frequency waves. Then, as she moved the transducer around, we could visually see all of the chambers of my heart at work on a computer screen with stellar resolution. We looked at the whole heart at work, each individual chamber, and we even looked directly up the main line that feeds oxygenated blood to the heart (forgot what it's called.. the aorta maybe?). It was absolutely amazing, and all done with the physics of sound waves. Then she used the doppler mode which produced some crazy wave charts, and later we actually listened to the blood moving into and out of certain points of my heart. I even got a gig out of it... the nurses fiance is an electronic music composer, and she has several other musician types in her family. Anyways, just thought I'd share with my audio buddies... If you ever get a chance, get yourself one! PS... the ticker's A-OK! Kris My Band: http://www.fullblackout.com UPDATED!!! 20to20
Jules, Why were they scanning your depilatory gel? (NADS is a hair removal product from Australia marketed on late night TV in the U.S.) Maybe THAT'S why it's called Down Under? wamaw
I had an Echo Cardiogram once, but that damn thing was so buggy. Now I have a 24 bit one from M Audio. -- RobO
