Imagine
Now I think we can all relate to this. I work late everynight and if there's anything I need after a certain time is energy, even though we know it isn't good for us, I'd have to go with: MacDonalds... steadyb
When I'm in Philly, it's got to be an authentic Philly Cheesesteak. Steak, cheese, onions, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, cilantro, mushrooms, and a side of Ranch dressing for dipping. The "real deal".
Philip OKeefe
I love a good cheesesteak sandwich. Good call. But out here in California, it comes down to two places: Tommy's and In and Out. IMO, In and Out makes the best burgers in the world. Their shakes are also excellent, but their fries are not as good as McDonalds. Are you bored today, Byron? Hmmmm? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Ahhh - why not? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif The sandwich you describe is a cross between a cheesesteak hoagie (lettuce and tomatoes - usually with mayo, not Ranch dressing, Cali boy) and a mushroom/pepper steak. The cilantro is an interesting touch, but I'd sure enjoy watching you try and find a steak shop in Philly that'll have cilantro, much less put in on a cheesesteak. Oh yeah, and the dipping thing? Forget that - if it ain't on the sandwich, it shoudn't be part of the sandwich. I've said it before and I'll say it again - a "real" Philadelphia cheesesteak consists of meat, WHITE American cheese or Cheese Whiz (I hate Cheese Whiz), roll and maybe fried onions. Period. Ketchup is acceptable as well. Anything else, and it becomes a different sandwich. Another key Philly delicacy is called a Pizza Steak, and has provolone cheese and tomato sauce instead of the American cheese and ketchup. Way yum. dB Hardcore Cheesesteak Worshipper ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network

Apparently you don't have a Fatburger in Riverside. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif That's my fave, followed by Wendy's and Jack In The Box's Sourdough Jack. Actually, my absolute fave is at the Gold Rush casino. They have a 24 hour special of a 1/2 pound cheeseburger with fries for $1.35! If you don't want cheese, it's only a buck. Of course, you have to tip the waitress, but you can still get out of there for less than two and a half bucks. And it's good, too! Carl's Jr.'s new $6 burger ain't bad, either... dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
dansouth
Carl's Jr. is one of the most nausiating meals I've ever consumed. It's like an extra gross version of McDonalds. Never again.

If I go looking for fast food, I'll try finding a Wendy's... taco hell sucks. But I'll usually avoid it at all costs. What is the point of fast food anyways? There's plenty of take out restaunts. Wendy's in the ONLY one that doesn't absolutely suck. Rod S
If you like Steak, you gotta go to a brazilian bbq restaurant. All you can eat meat. Premium cuts. Waiter comes with a big slab of meat and cuts a slice right into your plate. dansouth
Oddly enough, I've never found decent tacos in NYC. Nothing that compares to California, anyway. I go to a little hole in the wall in Jersey (Mexican-bottled sodas, Mariachi jukebox, no English spoken) for my fix, but even that isn't as good as So Cal. My mouth is starting to water just thinking about California tacos...

Too bad, it was pretty damn good.
