Getting back into it all

Recommended Posts

As a few of my previous posts have intimated, it has been a long time since I have been actively involved playing music (about 11 years). A sign of this is that my Ensoniq Electric Grand is no longer made---in fact Ensoniq as a company barely exists(now merged with E-MU)! Its a different world out there now. I would like to move into the 21st century with regard to keyboards, technology, etc. but am at loss of where to start to learn. Can anyone give me some good hints, resources, reading lists, listening suggestions, equipment updates, etc. to get me on my way updating and improving my knowledge?

Its strange feeling like a dinosaur!

Keyboard Magazine would be a good place to start. http://www.keyboardmag.com

also http://www.harmony-central.com has a lot of user reviews of keyboards.

and http://sonikmatter.com/ has a good forum especially if you plan to get a Kurzweil. There are some very knowledgeable users there.

Hey I was in the same boat about 6 months ago, suffice it to say I'm knee deep in manuals now http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif I can see the 21st century and it's full of manuals as high as your eye can see ...

Good advice in the above post, the discussion boards/web are full of info.

One thing though just to keep some perspective, half the gear from this new century is designed to re-create the sounds of the gear from the last century ...
