Krakit
I have been trying to hook up my QSR to the serial port (COM port) of my PC and failing miserably. I've downloaded the latest drivers from Alesis, but I can't get Windows 98 to detect the QSR plugged into it. Is there a bug that I should be looking out for? How can I test the cable that came with my QSR? Are there incompatible motherboards? Carl P.S. I know that the COM port works and I've read the readme file already. Still in the dark here. Rod S
The only other thing I can think of is you have to setup the communications in the global menu. The options are something like : PC, Mac, MIDI. Make sure it's on PC. Make sure the baud rate matches, and check for the other parameters (stop bit, parity, etc) I've always used my qs6 thru midi, but have heard of a lot of people using the serial port successfully. Good luck. joegerardi
Krakit: Not trying to be a wiseass, but did you install the Serial Driver properly, i.e., via Control Panel, Add New Hardware? One thing I noticed on my new PC, which I just installed the Serial Driver, Friday, is that it's too fast for QSR. Receiving data at 115, would cause the QSR to time out. I had to slow the driver down to 38.4 kB in order to get it to communicate properly. And, as Rod said, make sure that your QSR is set to transmit via the Serial Port, and that its speed is set to 38.4 also. Hope that helps. Krakit
I had no idea that I was supposed to configure the QSR for this to work. I've done so now and SUCCESS! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Thanks very much. Carl
