that's IT? Khan, you MUST be slipping! A perfect setup like that, and that's all you post? I'm disappointed in you! ;)

Scott, FYI, it's normally looked upon with suspicion when a new member's first post is a request for everyone to go and hit their MP3 site - bordering on (dare I say it?) SPAM. And the mighty KHAN is normally murder on spammers... as he is the master of the mighty smiley, and has one for every situation known to man... :D

Normal "manners" dictate getting to know people here first, and then, after you've made a few posts, post this sort of links to your music to the "is your music any good - find out here" thread. Since you're new, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt regarding your lack of knowledge of our normal protocols here.

Trust me, you got off easy from the MIGHTY KHAN (inside joke!)

Seriously,

Welcome to the forums!

I take it all back, oh mighty one! You were simply setting Scott up. Make him think he got away with it, and then WHAM! Please forgive me for doubting you! ;)

And as far as your new year's resolution, IMO, it's misguided. You can't expect a poet to deny his or her art, and for you to let this go by would be a similar denial of your true nature! :D

Not true oh wise one. When Cereal posted his "Uh Oh" comment, I thought: "I'll show 'um. It's the new kinder gentler Khan".

Then you posted :

I was CRUSHED ;) The great and wise one was disappointed in me. :(

Ok...

So here I am...

Clearly I violated the etiquette, or protocol, which was not my intention...

I have plenty to contribute...

I just wanted my music to speak for itself...

I'm sorry for any SPAM-like behavior, but that was NOT my intention...

Peace,

Hey everybody!

My name is Dick Spamalot, a professional musician from Palookaville...

I thought I would torture you with some demos of my playing and writing...

My main instrument of torture is guitar...

I know it's tacky and tasteless for me to do this in this forum, but I think it's the best way for everyone to get to know the real me...

I have a web site with nearly 1600 complete demos of my music, but I will narrow it down to several hundred demos to save anyone with absolutely no life time in having to navigate my whole site...

You should be able to just click on each link to hear a complete demo (since you're all complete idiots and so new to this internet thingy)...if not:

(You'll need Real Patience 8 Basic for much of this, but I'll give you a link to my mp3 page at the bottom of this post, which has an abbreviated selection)

Real Patience

To get started...

Here's a boring/fusion/rock solo of mine from a gig back in 1978 where I trade solos with the kazoo player...

Solo 3196

I played/recorded a drum solo to which I then played/added a meanderingly pointless guitar solo...

Me-myself and I

Here's one of many mediocre songs I've written, engineered and produced with my co-witer Fonda Cox

Get It Together-STREAMING

Get It Together-SPEWING

Here's a boring bit of guitar wanking of mine from a gig back in 1995...

Wanking Solo 25,371

Here's a heavier kind of wanking I did just for kicks...both streaming and spewing

Someday My Clue Will Come-STREAMING

Someday My Clue Will Come-SPEWING

Here's a monotonuous blues solo of mine from a gig back in 1988...

Monotonous Blues Solo

Here's an excruciatingly bad jazz guitar solo of mine from a gig back in 1991..

Excruciating Jazz Solo 13

Here are some bloody awful compositions of mine from my web site:

(I sequenced all the instruments - genius!)... no guitar on these (thank God)...

Bloody Awful Composition 2

Bloody Fucking Awful Composition 1

Really Bloody Fucking Awful Composition 3

Here's a dated and irrelevant solo guitar arrangement of mine recorded during performance to an empty dive bar back in May 2001...

Irrelevant Guitar Piece

Here's a pseudo-hip-trendy-genre-of-your-choice project I'm working on with a keyboardist friend of mine, Jack Ballzoff...Jack: all keyboards; Me: wanking, sucking, boring, drum loop noodling, butchering/hacking...

Pseudo-Hip-Trendy-Genre-Of-Your-Choice Project

Here's a Stripper Bar Show Soundtrack...I performed the entire thing on my Korg Karma keyboard into ProTools, scoring it to the video file provided by the Porn Company (in between wanking sessions, but those are the perks!)...

Buttcheeks of the Universe

Well, that's way too much, but, when you suck as much as I do, too much is never enough, right??!!!

Thanks for not puking! (???)

Please visit my gratuitiously narcissistic site to get tortured more and learn more about me and how clueless and pathetic my music (if you dare call it that) is...

http://www.dickspamalotmusic.com

Peace (if you can find some, and if you have to subject yourself to my music in a search for some, well...I wish you luck, with great trepidation).

So Curve, it's clear I've ruffled your feathers by my post...

It's a shame you've chosen to respond with such hosility to someone you don't even know...

I'm not in the least offended, as your attitude reflects poorly on you, not me...

I'm just trying to share my music and get to know like minded people...

Peace to you anyway...

Well, if my introduction was "asking for it", then I'll re-evaluate my approach, but again, I stand by my intentions...

And as far as the replies are concerned, I hope it's not a reflection of the true hearts of those in this forum, but of their twisted sense of humor...

If "mr. curve" is any indication of the wit in the forum, I commend him...

If he is simply mean-spirited and hostile, then I pity him...

Scott, I still have not heard any of your playing, but I have been checking out your website... very nice. We actually have a lot in common.

Guys, IMO, Scott's not a troll or a spammer, he just wasn't aware of proper netiquette... which I'm sure he is NOW!

Curvemeister, you can be absolutely BRUTAL, ya know that? :)

Phil,

Thank you...

I came over form another forum that was just getting too juvenile, too vulgar, too hostile, and was looking for a place to connect with some actual fellow pros...

I hoped to just get my music out there, and develop some relationships without all the dancing around the issue...I am simply too busy to spend a ton of time posting gradual posts...I thought I'd cut to the chase, that's all...

Peace to all,

Scott

OK, since it's the New Year, and I'm in a diplomatic mood as such, I went back and edited my post.

It's less brutal now.

OK, that's not entirely true. It's a bit more brutal. Just a bit. That's OK - it'll be good for his Kung Fu.

...and of course, the obligatory message from the moderator, which is...

Post your music in the "Is Your Music Any Good? Find Out Here" thread. This was created because you are not the first person to want your music heard, and posted something to that effect. The problem is that there is a lot of traffic on this board, and folders are usually on relatively broad topics, or specific ones that deal with problem-solving, equipment choosing, etc. So, it's looked upon unkindly for anyone to post a topic that either is, or appears to be, self-promotional.

Steve, don't worry...if you had been a truly pro spammer, the posse here would have been BRUTAL. We're a self-policing zone, which is one of the ways we keep things civil. You don't even want to know what happens to people who persist in being jerks, but it's not pretty.

Curve, by the way, has a wicked sense of humor...one of the high points of the forum. So, jump in and enjoy yourself, I hope you get some responses over in the other thread.

Yeah curve is wicked, ha ha...whatever...

Personally, new members being cussed at is something that YOU should not tolerate as the moderator...

Oh, and I'll check out the other thread, it's just a shame no one else bothered to mention it, but preferred to instead make the less civlized choice...

Peace,

Scott, a few comments and suggestions - I mean these in the best possible way, so please take them as they're intended:

First of all, this is a diverse forum, with a VERY wide range of members. Some pros, some newbies, some hobbiests. If you want to talk about music, or have a specific question or thought about something, feel free to start a new thread. Again, as Craig mentioned, there's a specific thread intended for those who wish to share their music with everyone. I DID mention it, but you must have missed it. Here's a link:

http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=003170

The "Kung Fu" comment is a reference to another thread where we were discussing some other things, and the actual meaning of the word "kung fu" was discussed.

It can't be ALL puerility and trolling in here...

I assure you it's not. As Craig said, it's pretty much a "self policing" forum. Yes, he's got the "power" as the moderator to delete posts and threads, but you'll find that this usually doesn't happen on the musicplayer forums. Why? Because they try to let everyone have their say, and the "jerks/spammers/trolls" get dealt with in short order by the regular members. This forum is FAR less prone to flamefests and other such problems that are regular occurances on most other forums. They're a great place for information, meeting new people and just hanging out and discussing all sorts of things - music being the most prevailant topic, but we DO veer off all over the place at times.

The reason why we normally suggest people "get to know" people a little first before posting their own music is not just "manners" but also so you have an idea of the personalities of those who may respond to you. There's ALL TYPES here - this isn't a "Christian" forum (although there's several "Christians" here - if you're looking for a "Christian" forum, see the link / thread I placed up a day or two ago). There's all sorts of different personality types, religious beliefs, language standards, etc. etc. Such diversity is, IMO, a good thing. You just have to learn to take what you want, share what you can, and ignore the rest.

So if you want to talk about recording, or theory, or anything else, feel free to start an appropriate topic, or join in and offer your thoughts on one of the already established threads. I'm sure that as you get to know everyone, you'll appreciate a lot of what these forums have to offer.

Sincerely,

Phil O'Keefe

Curve, by the way, has a wicked sense of humor...one of the high points of the forum.

Craig,

Thank you my good brother. Happy holidays and a prosperous new year to you and your family.

BTW: We had a boisterous family reunion at the Curve household at Xmas, and your name came up. Bobby lent me a rare stompbox...we think it's an early Ibanez, pre-mass manufacture...

Description:

Blue-grey

Slant-faced

"NORMAL/PHASE SHIFT" printed in Eurostile font directly under the footswitch

"PhaseTone" printed in elaborate white cursive lettering under the small black footswitch

A red LED at the top of the slant, with "Foot System" printed in elaborate white cursive lettering under the LED

A single metal pot for speed control

the back plate has simply printed: MADE IN JAPAN/PAT. PEND.

Thre is NO brand manufacture name anywheres on the box

Taking off the backplate (and there are only two screws left, so we better not lose one of those, right??!!!), note the wiring is much more intensive than the current run-of-the-mill stompbox - true bypass?

There is also a black plastic casing enclosing the circuit...something I don't see these days in current stompboxes.

On to the important part: how does it sound?

Sweet and clear - the most transparent sounding phase shifter I've ever heard. Merry Christmas!

Kurt (our younger brother) came up with a Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe, which he temporarily bestowed upon the Curve Labs...oohh, what a liquidly delicious sound that box has.

We should start a forum dedicated to stompboxes...moderated by "Stompbox" Craig (as Bobby persists in referring to you as).

E :)
