Hey Everybody!

Hey Everybody,

Just wanted to introduce my self.

My name is Tim Lyons and I operate a small project studio in Port Jefferson Station , Long Island , NY.

Been lovin' the forums here. Seems like allot of talented friendly people hang in these 'hallowed halls'.

Lookin' forward to spending more time here and sponging up the knowledge.

Regards, http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

Welcome aboard, Tim!

I, too, think these boards are the best. I learn something new every day.

Ain't that what it's all about? (unless, of course, the Hokey-Pokey is what it's all about!) http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif

Have fun!

Steve

Hi Tim, and welcome to the forum! Tell us a little bit more about your setup, yourself and what types of things you work on.

Hi Phil,

Here's my set up:

The studio is a one room set up shaped like an 'L', 20'x 22'x 7' with an 11' corner taken out to make the 'L'.

Gear consists of;

Mac G3 w/ Protools 5.01 (audiomediaIII) Waves 3.0 plugs

Mackie 24x8 w/ Ultramix automation

Adat xt (x2)

DA 30mkII Dat

122mkII Cassette

Pendulum MDP-1

Presonus MP-20 (this one's got Jensens)

Yamaha Rev-500

Lexicon MPX-500

Digitech Studio Quad

Joe Meek SC 2.2v4

RNC 1773 (x2)

dbx 160x (x2)

Composer (rack filler, I swear!) http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif

Ahex 105 Quad gate

Aphex 109 EQ

Mic's;

TLM 103 w/shock

Octava MC-012's (Matched Pair from the Sound Room)

sm-57 (x2)

Sennheiser 421mkII

Sennheiser e-604 (x2)

AKG D-112

CAD E-200

I use an Onkyo M-504 to power a set of Tannoy Reveals and a set of little Radio Shack ProX44AV's..formerly Minimus 7's I think. I also use a pair of Bose Acoustimass 10.3's.

I spent a bunch of years doing construction and created the oportunity to switch over to recording. Hell of a lot harder to get started in this than construction that's for sure, but I love doing it and I feel like I made the right choice. Time will tell.

Most of the stuff I've been working on is singer/songwriter demo's with the occasional Rock band. Kinda' tuff doing a band in a one room set up but I make it work and it comes out pretty good.

Greetings, Tim.

I'm an ex-Long Islander, moved out here to the San Francisco Bay Area about 23 years ago from Hicksville, in Nassau County. Some of my family members live in Coram and Central Islip.

Good luck with your foray into the commercial venture -- I hope it works out for you. I am just a hobbyist myself -- I record so that I can realize my own compositional ideas without having to dig up a bunch of musicians to play the stuff...

Hey Tim, good to have you here, it looks like you have a fairly respectable studio there. I put in a network in a town called "Islip" a few years ago, probably not too far from you. Welcome aboard!

In two days, it won't matter.
