Phase Two of the infamous Project TelePhone...

Recommended Posts

Hey Gang,

Last spring I launched Project TelePhone

over at Lee Flier's what-the.com...

If you'd like the complete details (aka "the Rules")

of the project click here for the original thread...

Here's the short description:

Project TelePhone as it was originally conceived,

would utilize 4 musicians (aka "Players") to

each create 4 tracks of music in response to a

previously-recorded 4 tracks by a different Player...

Each player would then create 2 mixes;

one mix would be of all 16 individual tracks,

the other mix would be each player's mix

of their respective, original 4 tracks...

So far, we are half way along this process...

_________________________________________

A CALL TO ARM (your tracks ;) )

We are recruiting 2 new Players

to overdub 4 tracks and

create 2 original mixes...

We've also decided to start this thread

right here to track the progress of

the second phase of this project...

So, for anyone that's interested in

participating in this project,

please sign up...

Thanks,

Bob Phillips

If you're curious, you should click on

the link to the original thread and

read (at least) the first two posts...

That will answer your questions...

Thanks,

Bob

Thanks Dan,

I know what you mean about juggling

several (non-client) projects at once...

But it's all good, clean fun and I

sure get a lot of R&D/experience from it...

_____________________________________

The original "Rules" define the schedule

as 1 month to track, 1 month to mix...

[per each player]

But I think we should double the

time frame and try to finish this

project by the late summer/early autumn...

I'll give you a couple of days to reconsider,

but I think you'd be a great "Player C"...

Thanks again,

Bob

Ren,

You're a brave man committing to

a project like this, sound-unheard...

You won't regret it... :P

Let's give Dan another day to decide if he's in,

and if he'd rather go next (as Player C),

or last (as D)...

[Go for it, Dan...you should do it...]

Then we'll get started on Phase Two... ;)

Why don't we just stick with the sign-up order:

Player A - 20to20 (Bob)

Player B - Bunny

Player C - DanS

Player D - Rensonic

As you guys finish your tracks,

send them to me and I'll send them

on to the appropriate player...

I'm due to get Bunny's definitive tracks soon,

and then I'll send them out to you Dan...

Thanks everybody,

Hello gents, just to let you know I'm out of commission for the next month or so. My studio ceiling and one of the walls have been completely gutted, and the gear is dissasembled and in various corners of the basement. Figured I'd take advantage of the quite time and remodel the studio. Be a good idea to make Rensonic Mr. "C"

Cheers,

Dan

Dan,

Good luck with the re-build...

Ren,

Are you basically good-to-go...?

Bunny,

When you get your tracks finished,

would you please send me a copy on CD, also...?

And to facilitate getting all of

these tracks back and forth...

I'm going to PM each of you 3 guys

with my mail address, and ask each of you

to PM the rest of us with your contact info...

We could, if any of you prefer, probably

do the FTP thang, and just zap our files, as well...

It's all good... :P

Hi, guys!

Bob, I got yer PM. :thu:

I haven't had time to retrack anything, so I'll just stick with the rough tracks I recorded last May. Like Dan's signature line says, What we record in life, echoes in eternity. ;)

Bob, you have a broadband connection, right? What about Ren and Dan?

Ren, if you have broadband, I can post my tracks online for you to download. That'll save some time and postage, as well as a disc and mailer. If you're on dial-up, just send me your mailing address in a Private Message, and I'll mail you a disc.

OK, I've PM'ed everybody with my mailing address, and I gave Ren the link to my Shorten-compressed wave files.

Bob, I couldn't find time to update my tracks, so the old ones you already have are the same ones Ren is getting.

And we're rollin' again! :thu:

Ok, dudes... got my rig up and running at home today. So, let's get this party started...!
Ok, here's an update:

I downloaded Bunny's tracks... now I'm looking for the "Shorten" software to uncompress them. Quick question: Is this it? Seems like a complicated thing... anyway... you guys show me the way. :D

Here you go, Ren:

Shorten for Mac and Linux - click here.

Shorten for Windows - click here.

The program is really easy to use.

Dan and Ren, if you haven't already, you'll probably want to read the original thread about this project over at Lee's forum.

Glad you got the Shorten thang figured out...

Thanks to you and Bunny on the

kind words regarding the song...

I appreciate you guys for participating
