Chip McDonald
Watching a rerun of today's assemblage/service for the WTC at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. It's very touching to hear such words of encouragement from outside the country. It's also very impressive to see such a large throng of people gathered outside in support. This speaks very highly of the nobility of the people of England, a standard/event hopefully Americans will not in turn have to match. ------------------ New and Improved Music Soon: http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald Guitar Lessons in Augusta Georgia: www.chipmcdonald.com Eccentric blog: https://chipmcdonaldblog.blogspot.com/ / "big ass windbag" - Bruce Swedien
dinopop
I stumbled out of bed this morning, flipped on the TV and caught this live. They were performing "The Battle Hymn of The Republic" when I tuned in. Another one of the many moments this week when I've had to choke back the tears. - Layne
dansouth
Well, I guess we know why they weren't playing "The Star-Spangled Banner." I'm sure it was moving. You can't walk into St. Paul's without being moved, even when it's empty. I feel honored that they chose to hold this service in such a grand and awe-inspiring place. From these accounts it sounds like a moving and memorable ceremony. Thanks, London! And thanks to all of the people of the world who took time out today to remember the victims and express solidarity with the U.S. in one of out darkest hours. Your generosity and good will are VERY deeply appreciated, I assure you.

I hate to say it, but while the service was very moving and it was nice to see Londoners do such a thing... ... the musician in me was thinking "man, that is the most impressively perfect pipe organ sound!". Played a Bach chorale in Cm I believe; soooo wonderful sounding. If I ever get a chance to visit London that's on the list, if only so I can just hear a nice big closed C major on that thing in that room. (excuse me, but I couldn't help but to think that) Sorry. But is was moreso a touching event than just that. ------------------ New and Improved Music Soon: http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald Guitar Lessons in Augusta Georgia: www.chipmcdonald.com Eccentric blog: https://chipmcdonaldblog.blogspot.com/ / "big ass windbag" - Bruce Swedien
dansouth
The acoustics in St. Paul's are amazing. If you climb to the dome, you can whisper messages with your lips toward the wall, and a person on the other side of the dome can hear what you're saying. I kid you not. Make sure you catch a concert at St. Martin-in-the-Fields church if you'd like a preview of what heaven sounds like.
michael saulnier
In addition to their support and sympathy for us, the british have their own sorrows. I saw a report that the number of British citizens killed in the WTC attack (around 100) was the largest number of fatalities from a terrorist action in British history, dwarfing anything the IRA has done. I'm sure in such an international environment like the WTC, the same could probably be true of many other nations. It's not just us... ALL nations have to fear this level of terrorism. guitplayer I'm still "guitplayer"! Check out my music if you like... http://www.michaelsaulnier.com
