Hayman
Hi, Anyone know where to look for interviews and info on Jerry Marotta? I'm listening to Richard Page's "Shelter me" and the sounds, songs and playing are some of the best I've ever heard. Richard
felix stein
No, I don't know, but I always thought his drumming on Peter Gabriel's Security was brilliant as well. I have to check out your recommendation. felix's band
djarrett
Hey, Richard: I will do some digging. The best that I think I can do is locate the back issues (month and year) that feature him in Modern Drummer and then you purchase them from MD. Sound Good? Hayman
Thanks! I've had that CD (Shelter me) for a few years now and every time I listen to it I wonder how they managed to make such a perfect record. It's recorded at Rumbo Recording studios in 1996 (I think). Kim Bullard engineered the thing and Elliot Scheiner mixed it. If I could get any kind of information from someone who were involved in that session, I would be a happy Norwegian. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif It's lots of tasty percussion things going on and Jerry Marotta just completes the grooves perfect. And the drumsound is a little different too. The toms have short sustain and sounds fantastic, so I'm wondering what kind of heads he's using for that type of sound. They could be muffled, but I'm not sure. The sound is really full and open. And one second it sounds like he's playing with brushes, then suddenly a rimshot and a cross-stick..... Well, go get that CD if you don't have it already. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif Richard
