ian1642605905
Hey, I subscribe to several but the best for variety and options is:Interstate Music(www.interstatemusic.com)"IMS" Free catalog. Others are "Drums Etc.","American Musical Supply"(AMS) Drums Etc has a large variety of drums&equip but there cat.is B&W.AMS is a step above Musicians friend. All of these guys have a "meet or beat the competition price" policy, so shop for the best price then find out who has the fastest availability and go with them at the low price. Dont be afraid to try to bargain with them they will sometimes come down from the original price. I have spent about $5000 on equipment that would cost twice that in a retail store. :ian* ian*
djarrett
Hey, ian*: We can be closet drum "porn" catalog readers together. One of my real quirks since I was in middle school was to go through my drum magazine and write letters to all the drum manufacturers asking them to send the most current catalog, brochures, or flyers. I had a file cabinet next to my bed. I would memorize the specks on these companies gear! I had one wall behind my kit growing up that was plastered with these fold out pages and small posters, etc. I find that there are some specialty shops like AJ's Pro Percussion in Tampa (AJ was responsible for the successful drum division of Thoroughbred Music) that have super catalogs of nothing but drum gear. Check it out! DJ
Tedster
(Homer Simpson looking at foldout): Mmmmmmm...Miss Tama, July Playset of the Month...what a pair o' toms...!!! "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
ian1642605905
Hey djarrett, My wife rolls her eyes in disgust everytime I drag out the stack of catalogs. She knows that my never satisfied mind is scheming on the ever growing wish list. They just don't understand our dysfunction do they? Does Thoroughbred still publish a catalog? The last time I checked into them the 800# I called was some other music supplier.I always liked there selection.I'll bookmark that other dealer that you posted. You know when you're searching for the best deal, the more suppliers you can put at the bargaining table the better deal you can maneuver out of'em. :ian* ian*
djarrett
Hey, Tedster! ROTFLMAO! ... what a pair of tom-toms! What a hoot! DJ
djarrett
ian*: The Thoroughbred Music chain was bought out by Sam Ash a little over two years ago. I mentioned AJ's Pro Percussion because he is one of many Pro Percussion (only) shops in the US. AJ ran the entire Drum Dept. and Catalog Division of T-bred before the buy-out. He still runs his own killer drum shop and has a great catalog. Go to www.ajpropercussion.com ... you can request a catalog from there. Thanks, DJ

djarrett
Funny, Bart: For a while I ran a drum department in the mid 80's in Tampa, FL called Paragon Percussion. We had an import line called ... Are you ready for this .... JUGGS Percussion! How appropriately funny! HA! DJ
DrummerCafe
Yeah, I remember JUGGS. Didn't they specialize in congas? That's all I remember them making actually, which fits the name of the company, even if it is seemingly misleading. Just a funny side note; seeing the spelling of Juggs reminds me of this guy from back in college ... his last name was Pigg if you can believe that! ian1642605905
You know when youve gotten the stage all set up and sound check is over and your sitting at the band table enjoying a preshow beer, you glance up at the stage and there she is waiting impatiently for you to come back up there and rock her world. Her shape and colors under the stage lights entice you.She is the focal point on the stage, the reminder of the magic about to take place...All the people filing in the door notice her beauty and you are so proud to be the man in her life. The only one who will make sweet music with her.IT'S SHOWTIME!
