Cthulhu Fhtagn
OK, searched under "SOUND EQUIPMENT" and got nothing, so I now suspect my spelling. Here we go... My search for a band is going nowhere fast so I'm thinking maybe I'll start one of my own. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about sound gear. Was reading the Carvin catalogue for no good reason and was reading the part with all those ... sound things. PA, Patch, Bar, Channel. What does it all mean? I guess I need to find the equivelent of "Sound Engineer for Dummies". Any suggested reading out there? Not really interested in the weird light stuff, fog machines or turntables right now. zeronyne
If you can, go to the music store and get yourself a copy of the Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook. I've had mine since the 80s. It's really no big deal to understand. It's very similar to your bass rig...just with many simultaneous inputs. "For instance" is not proof. Steve Force
What 09 and dnkritr said. In addition, check out the DBX DriveRack PA unit. All in one unit--crossover, eq, feedback suppression, compressor, limiter, Subharmonic Synthesizer, etc. Very simple to use; especially if you are your own Soundman. Eric VB
Josh is also learning about SR equipment, although he's building at least the cabs by himself. Still, there is some useful information here .
