musicfiend
http://www.bassnw.com/Used%20Basses/conklin_GTRP.htm The groove tools rocco signature bass by conklin. I remember these looking better the last time I saw them. I don't know Either way, if I had to I would guess that they play amazingly. Has anyone played one Hiram Bullock thinks I like the band volume too soft (but he plays guitar). Joe Sample thinks I like it way too loud (but he plays piano). -Marcus Miller

musicfiend
Ok, well I wont buy it, but I'm sure it will make somebody happy. It's got an ok price tag on it. musicfiend
I thought that if the flame on the pickguard was tighter it would look great. But I can't fault the company for trying to fit in these cosmetic features onto a bass. They just wanted to give us more for our money. coyote
Definitely agree. The 7 looks pretty good, but the upper horn's just too damn big on the 4. DWBass
Hmmm....that price is just right. The bass looks very good to me. I'll find the link to a TOP video where Rocco is basically throwing down on one. http://www.redmusic.com/video/TOP.ram www.myspace.com/thefunkfather

wraub
Not fugly at all. I dig the pickguard lots. The horn does look long, but it's a 4 string, so it probably is long. I bet the balance is better for it. The price sounds right. The maple board might be a deal breaker for me, I'd have to play it to tell for sure. Peace, wraub I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here.

kenfxj
I can deal with the upper horn and the color, but that pickguard...ooof! Push the button Frank.
coyote
There's an Epiphone / Hipshot bass trem for $200 on that site. If I had the extra $$$ laying around, I'd get it - a new bass trem on its own costs nearly that much. At that low price it would be a cool toy to have. I used to think I was Libertarian. ClarkW
I looks like the upper horn is trying to breakaway and secede from the rest of the bass. As per the link provided by DWBass, Rocco is a bad, bad, bad man... at about 2:30 in the video, they start showing some really good shots of him, and boy does he make it look easy! saxofunk
OMG! It's ALLLIIIIVE! I hope it's a bad picture. THIS is the bass I've been lusting after since it first appeared on the Conklin site in late 2001. Sealed pickups (I dig poles on P p'ups) The finish - I certainly hope it's better in person, especially the pickguard. This is the first I've seen of the Rocco model actually being available and I'll have to get my hands on one before I make the final judgement. I still dig it. I want to dig it sooo bad that I won't write it off yet! Part of me wants to believe that Bill Conklin would have sent them back to Korea if the finish was really that ugly. - Matt W. 73 P Bass
The aesthetics don't bother me; kind of funky. The price is pretty good too. "Start listening to music!". -Jeremy C
groover
At first glance I thought it was just okay, but at second glance it started lookin' purdier and purdier! I find that pictures just don't do justice to many basses. There has been many times I thought a bass was ugly until I saw it in person. There are a few exceptions, like this , which is even uglier in person than pictured. IMHO
