SteveC
I know this topic comes up every now and again, but I think a few people have changed some gear lately and I was just curious what people are using these days. I'm down to the following: Stingray 5 Fender Jazz fretless 4 (did it myself) SWR Bass 350 SWR Goliath 4X10 Boss Tuner pedal EBS MultiDrive Boss Limiter Boss Chorus Thanks for putting up with my curiousity and probably adding to my GAS. fig
My gear needs are minimal. Always have been, always will be. Ovation Magnum 4 string bass Westone Rail 4 string bass. Aria Pro II 5 string bass (main player these days) Digitech BP200 effects unit. Peavey Digibass 300 watt head. Peavey 4x10 cabinet. The only change I'll make is selling that heavy cabinet and get some 2X10's. 'cause I'm getting too old to lug that thing around. Bassplayers aren't paid to play fast, they're paid to listen fast. Pernax
Here's my short list of gear: - Ibanez BTB 405 5-string - Selfmade Ibanez "Iceman" 4-string replica with active EMGs (currently needs a bit of tweaking for a change) - SWR 750x head in a 4-space Gator rack case - 2x SWR Goliath III 4x10s I have been thinking for different options on how to fill that GAS-inducing empty space in the rack, the strongest contestant at the moment is the Korg DTR-1000 rack tuner. Also a second fivestringer will be on the list in the near future, dunno yet about which way it will be, a new #1 bass or a relativly cheap backup for the BTB. Have to see how what the future brings study/workwise. -Pernax (up to 200 characters) You may use UBBCode in your signature.
davebrownbass
Always hesitate to mention...never know when dishonest type people try to inhabit this board. My main gigging rigs are pretty well known to the people of this board: '91 Warwick Streamer Stage One (Stolen once, recovered off of ebay) '80's Schecter Precision GK Microbass MBE 150 Rolls Red Square DI Orchestral and Bluegrass: 1912 Lowendahl German URB flatback Picato Innovation strings Jazz: Lewis Dancla URB Fishman bridge P/U Acoustic Image Contra (original 2way style) Larivee Guitar And a bunch of other stuff that sits in it's case trying to figure out whether I still love it. Pernax
I think what DBB is implying is that such lists of equipment combined with information of the owner found from the forum can lead to losing that gear... -Pernax (up to 200 characters) You may use UBBCode in your signature. A.P. Non-Prod.
I recently traded in some old Yorkville PA cabs towards a Carvin 2x10 cab that fits nicely on top of my Peavey 15. With my Mackie 1400 and Peavey Max preamp I can push a pretty decent amount of air. Main bass- Conklin GT-4. BenLoy
Okay, I'll gear-geek out with you guys for a few minutes... Let's see, there's my Stingray: http://www.mrsgrundy.com/images/grundy/pop/ben.jpg I run it with the volume up full into my Demeter VTBP-201S Tube Preamp: http://www.demeteramps.com/basspreamps/vtbp201slarge.jpg From there, I run it into the line-level input of my SansAmp RBI for overdrive sounds (footswitchable in and out, depending on the gig/tune): http://www.tech21nyc.com/Images/Amps/Rbi/RBI-big.jpg I set the blend at 75% overdrive and 25% dry Demeter signal. Nice. I run this all into a Stewart World 1.2 1200 watt, single-rackspace power amp: http://www.nextgener.com/ngm/stewart/images/world1-2.gif I bridge the Stewart at 1200 watts (4 ohms), into an Acme Low-B2 2x10: http://www.acmebass.com/products/b2feathered.jpg This sucker gets loud. I've never needed anything more. Sometimes I'll leave the SansAmp at home to save weight if I'm not going to be needing overdrive. Sometimes I also stomp on a Boss OC-2 octave or a Haz Labs Mu-Tron III+. If there was any doubt I was a geek before, I hope I've cleared things up for y'all.
