OT: Washington, D.C. area Serial Arsonist arrested

Recommended Posts

There's been a serial arsonist plaguing the DC area for a while now and it seems they have arrested the arsonist. Between this and the serial sniper a few years back, DC area has been having interesting times.

I hope they got the right guy. The arsonist has been in the news for two years now, and is responsible for at least one death. As if it isn't hard enough to sleep well in DC already, with all the shootings, stabbings, etc.

They said on the news that he just confessed.

Several of the houses he torched are in my neighborhood. The last one is literally around the corner and in walking distance. The owners haven't started the repairs yet although I hear they intend to move back in by the fall. Also the KFC/Pizza Hut where he was manager is only about 1 1/2 miles away.

They said he is a soft spoken guy and was a good manager. The ATF people are saying he no way fits the profile of a serial arsonest.

What type of mental illness is this? Very very weird and so unbelieveably sad.

Why would someone set fire to someone's home for no apparent reason 44 times? Only one person died but that was definately one too many.

We will sleep a little easier tonight although recently I honestly hadn't given it much thought until the capture. It was one of those things that you just sort of push out of your mind I guess. There is so much sh**% going on all the time you almost become strangely immune to the fear of it. :(
