johnchop
Looking forward to firing up the demo tonight. So the “shoot out” would be Cherry Audio, Xils-Lab, and Arturia? I remember liking the Xils Lab version. Quote I make software noises.
ElmerJFudd
Is it included with the Arturia subscription? Anyone tried it yet? Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-
Headless Canoe
I don’t think Arturia has a subscription service.
Mark Schmieder
Yeah, I think that's the trio of choices so far. I felt the Cherry Audio product far surpassed the one from Xils-Lab, but then, time marches on and the latter is an old product by now. I'll probably wait for a V Collection upgrade as I rarely use synths anymore and as I love the Cherry version, but I'll be curious to see how people think they compare. David Emm
The Elka-X has been my best buy for several years. Its funny to be so enamored of a synth I never even got to tweedle in a store, but its seriously rewarding. It was a golden day when I first realized that I could stack synths in Logic. The Elka often gets a track or three. Its in high rotation. I just plain meshed with it the first time I went through the presets. In use, it feels more like my old Minimoog than even the Memorymode does. I grab the right parameters reflexively. Its my best non-workstation polysynth and my favorite Cherry Audio synth. I rarely hoot like a howler monkey over a synth, but in this case, its justified. 1 Quote I just emptied out my swear jar and bought a CS-80. Cussing really pays off! ABECK
I never even heard about the the Elka Synthex until reading the Vintage Synttesizers book in the late 90s. Seems like in it's day, a synth from an Organ company didn't get the attention it should have.
mauriziodececco
I remember playing the real one back in the day in a shop in Siena, but being a student, there was no way i could pay for it :). You're singing a song many of us know all too well, but how fortunate I've been, with both access to good music stores and a few sympathetic salesfolks! That's how I got to know a CS-80, Polymoog, RMI keyboards and more. The Synthex is like a Prophet with a very European aspect. I know that sounds abstract and it is, but rewardingly so. Its a lovely instrument. 2 Quote I just emptied out my swear jar and bought a CS-80. Cussing really pays off!
