davinwv
I'm seriously considering an Ivory 3 purchase. It is $20 off at Ilio right now. I've read a lot of threads at VI-Control and Pianoworld forums, but I was curious to see how forumites here are liking it. As you guys might know by now, I'm a diehard VI Labs Ravenscroft 275 user, so that will be the benchmark to which I compare Ivory 3.

Are you still enjoying it?

Yes….but I’ve been doing more acoustic piano recording than using plug-ins these days. I do love the real thing… dB 2 Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network

CHarrell
I've been tempted to buy it, but the system requirements worry me. I flip back and forth on Ravenscroft, but its footprint is so small, it's great for live use.
Mark Schmieder
I would say the character of the Ravenscroft, which I used to own, holds a bit closer to VSL's pianos than to Ivory, but for Ivory 3 I am just basing off the audio demos as I did not upgrade from Ivory 2. The Galaxy Instruments piano libraries also seem a bit closer to Ravenscroft than Ivory. VSL pianos and my playing style/applications just don't go well together. I just don't have the patience to tweak them as much as is required.

I tweaked Galaxy and Ravenscroft as much as I tweak VSL; similarly for Bechstein when I owned that lib. Not to mention others that passed through my hands, such as Pearl and Mercury. Pianos are the one thing (including other electric keyboards) that I absolutely never use factory presets for! I could never tweak Ivory1 or Ivory2 to my liking. Maybe Ivory3 can be tweaked more. It certainly has more real-time control than its predecessors. George88
It immediately sounded modeled. While maybe an improvement over 2 with additional mic options, less realistic to me.
