Motif88
Thank you! Another one for my Lyle archives...an amazing person who helped change what I listened to, how I listened to it and hopefully had some impact on how I play. Always brings a tear to my eyes to listen/watch him. Stefan011
I love LM, both his synth and piano playing. For my personal taste this is too close to Rick Wakeman territory. But enjoyed it nonetheless.

Always brings a tear to my eyes to listen/watch him. That sums up my feelings as well, and there is no keyboardist I mourn more. I still remember watching Pedro Aznar’s Mas Alla tribute in the height of the pandemic, just after Lyle’s passing—completely wrecked me. GovernorSilver
Love Lyle's playing in every context that I've heard him play. However, that was apparently a cover of Keith Jarrett's The Windup and whoever made that video took only Lyle's solo rather than Pat Metheny Group's complete performance of the tune. https://www.patmetheny.com/qa/questionView.cfm?queID=3969
Stefan011
Wow, thanks! Great comparison of their individual styles.
GovernorSilver
I simply posted the original recording of The Windup as reference, and to provide context for Pat Metheny Group's performance. My intention was not to invite comparison between Lyle and Keith as improvising pianists.
