zxcvbnm098
CD sales were actually up 5.2% over last year for the first 20 weeks of this year. So far 13.3 million CD's sold. Much of the CD and LP sales is from K-Pop artists. Like a lot of vinyl sales, I assume a fair bit of the CD sales were from fans who don't even have a CD player, nor will they be listened to. Most artists have figured out that that they want to draw people to their own websites for CD, vinyl and merchandise sales. CD's are still viable for a lot of independent artists. An artist selling their own CD's not through a record company they make more that one CD than they do from thousands of streams. Artists when they tour don't make much money from the gigs themselves it the merch sales were they make money. Unless you're a mega star level artist not much money in the music business anymore. When I worked at the church we had a number of big name artists that were members of the church. Talking to them they said most their money comes from endorsements and selling clothes, shoes, perfumes etc with their name. The people making good money are the Beat Makers. Producers and artist pay big for a good Beat. Beat maker make more money and better protected from their Beat being stolen if they get a Producer credit on the record their Beat is used on. That's why you look at the credits for hit song these days it's like a laundry list of people with songwriting credit and the producers. Pop music world is way different than what most of us grew up in.
