TrancedelicBlues
yeah it is!!! at the very least--there's room for a country version, a smooth jazz version, and an urban version... i call upon my fellow musicians to uplift the people with new and timely recordings of this deathless anthem... together, we can make the world a better place... it's dying... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . to get better!! Botch.
I was working out at the gym last week and the line "one tin soldier rides away" kept going through my head, but I couldn't recall the rest of the song. While showering the rest of the record hit me, brass charts and everything. I burst into song; now they won't let me come back to that gym anymore... The rest of the day these old Sonny and Cher reruns kept flashing through my head. That's why its in my tag line, at least until I see the next clever t-shirt or bumper sticker. Just heard it on the Sirius 70s channel (man, I love satellite radio) and that track JAMS. I googled Mr. Reed and found a couple of fan sites...apparently he let his own site lapse a couple of years ago. Getting nostalgic for Glen Campbell's Goodtime Hour.... this house is empty now... In keeping in tune with the "Alien vs Predator" movie release, Reed and Helen Reddy should come up with an "Amos Moses Meets Delta Dawn". He came out by himself and sat down on a chair with a Strat which he played through a fender Twin.... which more than filled a good sized Hall with sound (I had previously seen the Hollies, Simon and Garfunkel, the Association, and Gary Puckett and the Union Gap there!!!) Great Show!! This was in College Station, Texas, maybe 1969, give or take a year.... He was the opener for a group called "Smith" (and they were pretty darned good too!) Lee Knight
Well... I saw Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods rise up from the ground on the Tomorrowland Stage at Disneyland singing their hit "Billy Don't Be a Hero". Now THAT rocked. That was enough to stop my mad dash to the line for the Matterhorn, have a cardboard burger and fries and dig Bo with my Mom and Dad in tow. These are the things that get us started down the road to ruin...
