Check out Heavyocity's "Emotive Choir" https://heavyocity.com/products/

Downloading it now. I have one of Spitfire Audio's choirs but another is good by me!!!!

I use Triple Play for my guitar and it's easy to load up to 4 plugins so I could have 2 choirs and blend or choose as I prefer. Thanks!!!

It took a chunk of my life to get here and I am still not sure where "here" is.

yw - probably not the very best choir out there but I thought it sounded good and a good choir for free is almost unheard of.

True. Where I am currently staying my wi-fi is compromised. I plan on dropping by the condo to check the status of repairs and I'll probably fire up the Mac Mine and try again using a fairly fast cable connection, it failed here.

As long as something doesn't actually sound "bad" then there is a use for it somewhere. I'm looking forward to having 2 choirs to choose and blend. The Spitfire one was on sale for $17 so I grabbed it. $29 isn't too bad though...

Oh yeah THAT Spitfire, I forgot about that! Definitely looking to grab, agreed, even at $29 that's dirt cheap for a quality choir.

And I have long believed that the diff between plugins of a similar type is usually exaggerated, often quite a lot. They are getting that good.

I doubt it will sound identical to the Heavyocity choir, which is the whole point for me.

The two of them together may actually be pretty impressive.

The same is true with orchestras and drum plugins. MODO Drums and NI Studio Drummer together sound really good together for some things.

The trick is to not get carried away and put everything on full blast. A bit here and there, like seasoning...

The Emotive Choir is actually pretty amazing - hold the note, and it goes through a variety of changes. I don't have anything else even remotely like it. Maybe they're giving it away is because most people think "oh, it's just a choir" so it doesn't sell well. It's anything but "just a choir."

PS finally got around to The Emotive Choir and while it has some nice ambient sounds I can definitely make use of, it only has a vague choir sound at most, very "synthy." Which is fine if that's what you want, but I have similar such things and was hoping for more of a no-kidding choir sound. The Spitfire LABS choir is better.

And the Spitfire Epic choir, although not free, is only $29 and on my short list!

Was ready to purchase this product, then stumbled upon this

https://www.spitfireaudio.com/library-manager

Can't deal with that right now, maybe another day  :idk:

I hear you, I hate the downloader/installer things, but a good choir for $29 will cause me to make the exception :)

JimboKeys mentioned "Hammersmith Free" on page 1 of this thread.

Here is the link to that and several other freebies from a solid company.  (I am in no way affiliated, just a happy customer)

Yeah all of their freebies are download-worthy IMO, although I prefer the Denver Grand or Ivy 162 pianos (also free).

Nice, will download and give it a spin!

Chair Audio has free plugins for Cymbal: https://www.chair.audio/product/excte-cymbal/

and Snare Drum: https://www.chair.audio/product/excite_snare_drum/

I've downloaded and installed them, the interfaces look useful but I haven't fired them up yet.

If you can tolerate their totally annoying and screwed up registration/install/etc etc process (I can't), IK's Philharmonik 2 CE orchestral library is currently free if you subscribe to their newsletter and jump through God only knows what kind of hoops: https://www.wavefoundry.net/post/ikmultimedia-miroslav-philharmonik-2-ce-is-free

tbh for a free orchestral library I would opt elsewhere, like VSCO or Red Room's Palette.

I have all sorts of free IK stuff but maybe I got it before they made things difficult. It's good stuff but I find I tend to avoid getting plugins from vendors I find difficult.

I'd never gotten anything from Waves before and today I did download their dynamic EQ plugin. It took way too long, cumbersome. I doubt I'll be back.

Yep Waves is in the same category for me, also zero interest in them. Why companies do this I can't imagine.

Me either! Yesterday evening I went to the Pulsar website and downloaded their free W495 plugin just to see if I like it. Took a few quick minutes to snag it, install it and check it out in my DAW. That's how it's supposed to work, even if you add the simple step of payment it shouldn't take long.

Waves tries at every step to get you to purchase more of their stuff. They could just send me an email here and there with things I might like. But no, they started the email barrage right off the bat. I blocked them, if I want or need something I'll hunt it down.

Lucky us to have so many options!!!!

Get the UAD LA-2A Tube Compressor for free here- https://www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/compressors-limiters/teletronix-la-2a-tube-compressor.html

Caveat, it's ilok and you need to use the UAD Connect app but definitely worth the price! :)

Bill

Took a bit of jumping through hoops but I got it, thanks for the tip!!!!

For UAD Connect to work, I had to create an account and install Universal Control. The whole process took a few minutes. Haven't tried the plugin yet but UAD is quality stuff in general.

Just a heads up, if you have the free LA-2A you can purchase the Essential Bundle for 49.00...normally 300.00 so it's quite a deal! I just grabbed it :)
