Radagast
Is it me or does the piano in the original video sound fantastic?
jerrythek
It sounds very good, but it's a bit exaggerated in its dynamic timbre. The softest playing is very muted/dark and the hardest playing is extremely bright. To my ears it goes beyond what any grand piano I have played really sounds like. As a person who has been involved in the development and programming/voicing for a lot of products over the years I have seen programmers (and myself) want to get this sort of range, but I think this one goes a little bit too far, if you are trying to sound like the real instrument. Of course, no ones says you have to sound like the real instrument, that's the beauty of synthesis and technology. You can make an instrument that goes beyond the physical limitations if you want. But I have never heard an acoustic piano that can go from as dark/muted to bright as this one does. YMMV.
