LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A court commissioner issued a warrant for the arrest of Courtney Love on Friday, her 40th birthday, after the rocker-actress failed to appear for her arraignment on a felony assault charge. The performer's attorney told the court that Love was in New York and confused about whether her presence was required in the California case. Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Dennis Mulcahy waited nearly three hours for Love to show up for the hearing before issuing the bench warrant. The charge of assault with a deadly weapons stems from an altercation with another woman at the Los Angeles home of her ex-boyfriend and onetime manager, Jim Barber, in April. The warrant was issued after Love failed to appear in court for arraignment on an assault charge. Emergency crews were called to the singer's Manhattan apartment at 2:15 p.m. Pacific time. Love was taken to Bellevue Hospital, according to NBC4. Defense attorney Michael Rosenstein says Love is not hospitalized for a suicide attempt or for a drug overdose. He says it's a 'gynecological' condition." Love was conscious when she arrived at the hospital and her injuries are not life threatening, according to NBC4.
