torhu
I put it back in the original packaging after each use, this time it's been five months since I last used it. When I unpacked it today, one key had popped out of its place. No idea how, and it doesn't want to go back down. Anyone seen this before? Do I need to disassemble the whole think to get the key back in place, or is it possible to wiggle it back in position without risk of breaking anything? ElmerJFudd
A service manual would be helpful if you can google one up, however - thankfully someone has documented their gaining access to the innards of the PX-5S https://proteo.me.uk/2018/08/diassembling-a-casio-priva-pro-px-5s/ Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-
torhu
I found that one, but I was hoping to not having to do all of that...
Mike Martin
The hammer underneath the key is out of place. Trying to force the key down could damage the metal hammer underneath so yes you'll need to take it apart. There are a ton of screws. but it is not that difficult. When you do remove the top do it slowly so you do not damage any of the ribbon cables. My best advice is to take it to a service center. The Piano Man
Out of interest, what way has the Casio been lying when you have been storing it? I am wondering whether you might be able to avoid this issue in future. Of course, space constraints can dictate storage positioning, so I appreciate it may not be easy for you. torhu
Just in its box, under a bed. Not upside down or vertically, so I don't know how this happened...
ElmerJFudd
As a side note - I"ve literally dropped my PX-560 on a few occasions (in the Casio soft case) and was impressed that the ends didn"t crack and the keys stayed in place. Very strange indeed. Possible someone else in the house stepped on the box? Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-
torhu
I guess something must have happened either when I put it in the box, or took it back out. Maybe the key got caught up in the protective plastic bag that's around the board.
torhu
Fixed it now, easy once I got it disassembled. Way too many screws. The counterweight (hammer?) was rotated so it didn't fit in the slot in the key anymore.
