Putting together a new in-home setup

Recommended Posts

For some time now I have been combining some of my retired gear, along with my stage rig into my computer to have a small studio. in an unused bedroom..

Well, I was just forced to move, as my rental home of 9 years was sold. I ended up finding a much better place, at not much more money. I had thought about taking an unused bedroom in this house and setting it up the same way.

But then I realized, I have a huge room that I was not sure what to do with. It's right as you come in the front door, 23X13.

So I decided to make that my music room. I will set up the studio in much the same way, but I have room for my 61 Wurlitzer Spinet, and if I find one, room for a B3 and Leslie.

It's nice to actually have room if I wanted to invest in a B, or even a small grand piano

I just need to figure what I want, where

"In the beginning, Adam had the blues, 'cause he was lonesome.

So God helped him and created woman.

Now everybody's got the blues."

I can"t think of a better use for a 'living room' than music making. The least productive use of the space is a couch and love seat rarely sat in. I say go for it and enjoy the room. Just make sure to use blinds on the windows and a dead bolt on the door. :)

Sounds like my friends house. He doesn't record but plays in a few bands so his living room has amps, drums, PA so all the groups he's in can rehearse. He's happy doesn't have to load up and drive to rehearsal and can drink and not have to drive.

Me after selling my house and moving into studio apartment I missed having a music room. So moved into a one bedroom apartment but I use my bedroom as my music room. People give me a weird look when they come to my apartment and see my bed in the dining area but I have a dedicated music room. Nice to have a space that is music only and when you step in you know what your going to be focused on.

Yeah, my wife loved the music, too.

In fact, the 61 Wurlitzer Spinet was hers.

Once I get it put together, I submit pics

Finishing the move with a rental truck and a roll off dumpster today, then I can dedicate myself to locating everything I needs to get that room fully set up.
