There's a strange curve from real B-3s to clones to ROMplers/synths to software recreations. I'm not a proper organist, but I've played a real B-3 enough to know you're missing a lot unless you play the drawbars. It can't fully breathe without 'em. Still, Logic's B-3 and the various EXS24 frozen organ samples I have are more than powerful enough for my non-Emersonian purposes. I'm not looking to develop a full Hammond mock-up configuration as a master soloist, but I do like having a good chunk of the voice for its obvious pluses.

This model for Korg's engine seems right in line with the promise of having the memory slots. The few tones you get to hear aren't half bad. I doubt you can get that full swell roar from it, but maybe even that's lurking in there. Organs are all about saw, square & sine. I think you should lay hands to the real instruments so you know what all the yelling is about, but its far better to only get this close to Hammond goodness than to miss it entirely. I know, real men at least buy a Vent & a drawbar box; I just don't need to be that kind of real.

Wow. I knew it had a good engine, but this puts it in the Top 5 circle. The overall feel is huge, with a lot of How'd They Do That? to it. Its further proof of that second and third layer of a synth, where this kind of thing can happen. I'm going to look into the module version again. I haven't had a real analog instrument in a while. Between the knobs and the range, this could become a go-to for that chair. Thanks for posting this.
