jazzpiano88
I don't like it. The first word that came to mind watching that first clip was Jackass. Maybe late at night at an extra-drunk frat party I guess, but even then... Reminds me of a star-studded video tribute to Roy Orbison that was going around 20 years ago or so where Tom Waits did something similar on a Wurly; just bashing on the keys with his forearms. BFD. It is a combination of the musicianship and comedy. Frank Zappa made his living on this... he wanted to amuse people more than connect their musical sensibilities, and ended up doing both. Scott Adams had a very cogent point that explains one of the main the differences in perception of humans that causes all sorts of people's conflict.... 30% of people (by clinical medical estimation) do not have any sense of humor. Example of Frank illustrating my point: [video:youtube] Quote J a z z P i a n o 8 8 -- Yamaha C7D Montage M8x | CP300 | CP4 | SK1-73 | OB6 | Seven K8.2 | 3300 | CPSv.
Werno
Love Terry Adams, especially in the classic Terry, Al, Joey, and Tom NRBQ lineup. Here's another example of concept asserting dominance over precision, and sanity, featuring the recently deceased Neal Innes as part of the Bonzo Dog Band- [video:youtube]

Docbop
I think the terms are wrong, I don't see this a precision issue to me it's about control. Is the player in control and the lack of precision is part of the sound, expression being sought. So when pounding clusters of notes is the player in control of the range he wants and dynamic, or just lost control and flailing at the instrument.
