Music With Marky
I found this software to be SO useful when working out new ideas/riffs. It can get really boring to always practice to a click and, finding a backing track on YT is great - but it's at whatever tempo it's at only, With this software, you get an adjustable backing track to work with (although it is kinda midi/cheesy sounding). http://www.chordpulse.com I did a quick review vid of it too: [video:youtube] Quote Music With Marky - A YouTube Channel For Guitarists Who Want To Make Better Music
Larryz
Thanks for the info! Pretty cool for a freebie! I can't stand playing with a click or metronome and prefer backing tracks or playing along with the original artists on YouTube if working on timing. For the most part, I just put a few chords on my looper (which can hold up to 99 complete songs), then work on whatever improv, scales, leads, etc., that I need to. I don't worry about the key as I can play in any. But, when I start working on the vocals, the key becomes very important. My looper has a click or drum track, but I seldom use it as I have pretty good timing. The free software looks very good too, thanks for the quick demo! desertbluesman
I use Band In A Box https://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.htm and Jammer Professional http://www.soundtrek.com/index.maint3.html to create my own backing tracks. Jammer is pretty much out of business, but I still have the CD's and I can use that program even though it is older. I have an old XP Laptop set up as a DAW that still works so I can create the backing tracks render them to MIDI and import them into a newer OS computer for rendering the stuff to audio). Of course Band In A Box is still in business so you can purchase a newer version. Yeah the leads and such over a backing are just so much better to work on. When you play to a click all the time, there's no context. I feel like it hinders musicianship. skypuppy123
If you are a bit lazy with creating complicated drum/bass or just drums lines you can always go here - https://www.wikiloops.com/tracks/track-finder.php and use a tool like Audacity to record it. There's many styles and genres to chose from.
