Ask a Fish Head Anything You Want To, They Won't Answer, They Can't Talk (9178)

~~~~~
I went out to the desert with other members of The Mercury Seven, an experimental atmospheric improvisational music group that I play music with, creating videos around Trona and Trona Pinnacles in the Mojave Desert in California. After they left, I stayed behind. After all, I am a night photographer, and the area is night photography heaven.
For several years, I had driven past Fish Rocks. I remembered approximately where it was, but never exactly. And now, I wanted to find it in the dark. I have no idea how, but after driving back and forth a couple of times, I managed to catch a glimpse of it.
'Originally they were called Whale Heads,' explains Margaret Brush, a member of the Searles Valley Historical Society (SVHS).'They date back to 1928. They did not always have teeth, like they do today.' At one point, people painted over the graffiti art to cover it. Two people re-painted the fish faces. They have been there since that time.
This night photo shows the movement of the stars over a long period of time created by the movement of the earth. All of the illumination was done with a hand-held ProtoMachines light painting device during the exposure, and is not a post-processing creation. No pixels were harmed in the creation of this photo.
