NPD: Couldn't resist, Echolution 1st gen.

Right to the point: my nearest GC had a very clean used 1st generation Echolution with a power supply, and they'd dropped the price from $250 to $180?!?! I'd been saving some $$$ for some new gear, so I grabbed it, and even got a slight break for paying cash. Except for a small strip of Velcro on the back, it looked untouched, no marks, no dings, not even any dirt smudges. Somebody was good to their toys . . .

It's the first model, the one that looks like someone's crazy project box, w/10 mini-toggle switches, 8 knobs, 5 Indicator Lights, 3 footswitches, and a bunch of jacks for I/O, Remote & Expression. There's no MIDI, and no memory, which is fine, as most of the real fun with this box is hands-on, turning knobs and flipping switches.

There are two Delays in one box, a Tap Tempo Delay (right-hand side) and a Modulation Delay (left side). You can't combine them, but with 5 Delay Taps on hand, you don't really need to; you can get some very dense Multi-Tap textures going, capture them as a Loop, then abuse the Loop by tweaking the Delay Time, the LFO Rate, or the Depth on the Tremolo & Chorus, then flip the whole thing into Reverse. The Analog Drive on the Input serves up a decent OD tone, as well. This could almost be someone's all-in-one box. There are a bunch of videos online, showing what it does; it's pretty wild.

The one odd thing - it came with an 18v Pigtronix PS, but it's supposed to be a 15v pedal? (There was a good bit of complaining about this on various gear forums, since it wasn't compatible with most after-market PS's or power bricks.)

I found a post from at least one other user who bought theirs new, and said it also came with the 18v PS; they'd also been using it with the 18v Out jack on a VooDoo Labs ISO-5, with no issues. Maybe later ones came with an 18v, since the only 15v PS available from Pigtronix right now is on their power brick, which sells for $300. For now, the pedal is working great, no overheating, no noise issues, so IDK? Can't wait to chain it with a handful of other Delays . . .

Forgive the perfectly awful pun, but the need for a Compressor wasn't exactly pressing, and I couldn't pass up the price on this thing! A tweaker's delight!
