hurricane hugo
Say So - Bent Knee Magma - Gojira Adore Life - Savages Up - Karsh Kale Sorceress - Opeth A Sailor's Guide To Earth - Sturgill Simpson Jomsviking - Amon Amarth Mythologie - Delerium Top three were definitely the best three. Beyond that, not in anything resembling order. That new Kate Bush live album is a stunner, but I'm just dealing with studio albums here. http://blip.fm/invite/WorkRelease

AnotherScott
Okay, then I can't resist plugging my own project, which was *my* favorite release of the year. ;-) see https://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2820568/Prufrock_album_now_available#Post2820568 Nah, I don't really expect it will be too many "best of year" lists. But I'd love to get some feedback. For a quick taste, the itunes link has the song clips, or you can listen to the whole album on Spotify. Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)

Joe Muscara
Honestly, Bruno Mars' 24K Magic album is off the chain! I can't stop listening to it. I'm a little surprised it hasn't been discussed here more with all the classic-sounding synth work on it. I think it's pretty cool in that regard and fun overall. Also, the lyrics can be hysterical, such as the title track, Chunky, and Perm! "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Hoo hoo!" - Daffy Duck "The good news is that once you start piano you never have to worry about getting laid again. More time to practice!" - MOI
AnotherScott
Scott, I listened to the previews on iTunes and gotta say it sounds really good! It is not music I normally listen to, but I really do appreciate the craftsmanship that shines through. Thanks, zen. This thread has reminded me how unaware I am of new music. I seem to very rarely listen to anything new unless it's on a list of songs I need to learn for a gig. It was nice that you an analogholic included youtube links, to make it so easy to hear an example of what it is you really liked. (Similar to how you felt about my music, these selections were not of styles I normally listen to, but I could see the quality in them.) For people willing to take the time, I think it's great if people link to the music they are suggesting. For those with long lists, maybe a shared spotify playlist, with, say, their favorite song or two from each of their listed albums? Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
