  1. Me, too, although it's a little strange to have the regular season start for a couple teams while others are still playing spring training games. But no one asked me. 😄
  2. Crazy start to the 2024 season! The Padres were up 2-1 in the 8th with the Dodgers at bat when a potential double play ball tore through the webbing in the Padres' 1st baseman's glove. The Dodgers went on to score 4 in that inning. A strange error helps the Dodgers against the Padres
  3. For every band situation, I use a spreadsheet to organize my mental notes, chord changes, patch numbers, tricky spots, etc. for each each song. Then I convert the spreadsheet to a PDF and load it into an iPad Mini that rests on the panel of my lower keyboard. By default, I sort the spreadsheet alphabetically, which is easy to scroll through during a show. If the band provides a set list, I'll also make a second PDF with the songs sorted accordingly -- although I often end up jumping out of that PDF to the alphabetical sort when the band veers from its regularly scheduled program.
  4. I wonder if the Redskimmanders might make a play for him. There was pundit talk of them needing a bigger WR opposite McLaurin. Although his last couple of years don't inspire much confidence. Edit: After reading what his contract numbers were and considering he's coming off an ACL, I don't know if it would be a good move for the Redskimmanders.
  5. And the Broncos are on the hook for the balance of the $39 million they guaranteed him for 2024.
  6. If I announced I was dating, I suspect the biggest outcry would be from my wife.
  7. That's some cool family history, Eric! Best wishes to your family and your father on his move. In keeping with the topic, the Liberace Foundation donated the use of Liberace's "Dancing Waters" piano to Styx for a recent run of shows at The Venetian Theater in Vegas:
  8. Not the best picture, but shows my Quik-Lok QL-746 with QLX-3 second tier:
  9. Have you tried contacting them through their website, https://aspenpittmandesigns.com?
  10. Even worse was Johnson dissing them by waiting until they were en route to Detroit to interview him to tell them, "Eh, no thanks."
  11. I hope so. I mean, he did take the Falcons to the Super Bowl... ...where they blew a 28-3 lead.
  12. The team formerly known as the Redskins hiring Dan Quinn as head coach I'm conflicted on this one: As a lifelong Redskins fan, it's hard to be excited about someone who comes over from Dallas. Quinn had a mediocre record as HC with the Falcons. How much of that was his fault versus the organization's? But he then turned the Cowgirls defense into an upper tier unit. How much of that was due to his influence versus the talent on the roster? Losing Quinn might set Dallas's defense back. Or maybe not. Most of the commentators that I respect on Sirius NFL Radio have nothing but good things to say about Quinn. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it goes, but I don't think this was a hire that is going to fire up the fanbase.
  13. That one surprised me. Atlanta chose a guy who’s 21-38 as a head coach in TB and Atlanta over the other names out there.
  14. According to CBS Sports, he told the team he’ll be back in 2024: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/mike-tomlin-tells-steelers-that-speculation-about-his-future-was-unfounded-hell-return-in-2024-per-report/
  15. I'm hoping he and Hurney are shown the door.
  16. I've been fairly lucky, I guess. My main band doesn't bring our own PA or soundman, so we're at the mercy of the house sound guys. We've encountered a few problem children over the years, but most of them have been very knowledgeable and capable. In fact, I have worked with several of the more experienced ones to help balance my patches and setups. As for rig size, I'm also lucky in that the guys in the band actually like it when I bring more than my usual two-keyboard rig. If we're on a larger stage and I only bring two, someone will ask where's the rest of my stuff. In fact, I was recently thinking about how I might cover our show using just one keyboard rig, and our bass player told me it might be possible but it just wouldn't look right.
  17. Boomer here. All of my keyboards use IEC cables, but I suppose I could picture owning a keyboard that uses an external power supply if everything else about it was optimal. But it seems that many of the keyboards from the major manufacturers that use an external PS also cut corners in other ways, such as scaled down features, an inferior keybed, plastic chassis, etc. For example, compare the Roland Jupiter-80 to the Jupiter-50, Fantom series to the Fantom-0 series, or Yamaha Montage to the MODX series. So while I might look past the external PS, other factors turn me off.
  18. Roland: Fantom 8 Jupiter-80 VK-88 (You didn't say they had to be current boards. 😉
  19. My biggest problem with cellphone videos being posted on social media is that invariably the person shooting the video and/or those around them are singing so loudly and out of tune that it makes us sound out of tune as well (which we sometimes are, but still).
  20. Veering off topic here, but what song is it that he's playing from about 2:08 to 2:20? I know I've heard it, but I haven't had enough coffee yet...
  21. The Fairlight all over Jane Child's "Don't Wanna Fall in Love"
  22. I use a split on my S70XS, with the patch for signature intro riff on the left and patch for the flutey part on the right. And I use a layered synth brass patch on the Jupiter-80 for the rest of the parts. I originally learned the opening riff one-handed, but two surgeries on my left hand over the past 10 years have affected my “reach.” So now I switch back and forth between playing it with one or both hands.
  23. Still rocking a K4 myself, at least in bands where I don't use IEMs. I owned one from 2006 until early 2022, when I bought a SpaceStation XL and sold the K4 to a friend. But the SSXL didn't work out for me, so I ended up selling it and buying another (used) K4. For me, you just can't beat its versatility.
