DaveMcM
I need to cover the bass vocal intro to Uptown Funk for a fill-in gig. The regular keyboardist sampled this sound from the recording. I don't have a sampler so I'm trying to figure out what to do. My thought is to use an app on my iPhone 6 to accomplish this. I have GarageBand but it doesn't allow for key zoning of multiple samples. I can get by with a single sample and stretch it over the 5 step range needed for this tune, but I may as well think forward and get something that would be useful for other projects as well. Does anyone have suggestions for a good iPhone based multi-sampler accessible via CoreMIDI? Thanks for any and all suggestions. Wm. nickd
What keyboard(s) have you got already? I ask because you may well have a vocal patch that'll cover this song well. My Kurzweil SP4-7 has a sound that nails it... and if you get a real vocalist to sing along as well (and maybe even add bass guitar covering the same part), it can sound sufficiently realistic. timwat
Yup same here. I built my UF combi in my Kronos using nothing but stock patches. Still a crowd pleaser, and my combi still gets the desired audience response from the first note. ..
DaveMcM
Thanks for the thought. The keyboard I have doesn't have a vocal patch that will work for this. Some nice Ooo and Ahh choirs but that's it. Last time I filled in with this group one of the sax players doubled what I was doing with his voice and it was OK, but I want to go into it this time prepared properly. Like I said, GarageBand will suffice but I'd rather have the ability to multi-sample this. Wm. David McMahan I Play, Therefore I Am

Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
roygBiv
Beatmaker 2 - is an old but extremely powerful sampler, among other things. Should be a new version sometime later this year.
