Ross Brown
Just for something different I thought I would try to add some "funk" songs to the set list. First ones should be "easy" so I can get buy in... Suggestions? Thanks.... Graham56
It's not really funk, but we get a good reception with 'Rapper's Delight' which we slot into our usual pub covers set. You have a weird combination of proto-rap combined with a classic Bernie Edwards disco bass line. But it works well for us. You can even get some audience call and response going ("I said Yeah" etc etc). And if you have the BVs you could switch to the 'Good Times' chorus in the middle of the song. Uh, that's Wild Cherry, Junior. I heard a wedding band doing it last year, and on the bridge ("and they were dancin', and singin', and movin' to the groovin'...") the guitarist and bass player started vamping Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" underneath it. I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard. But it worked. "Tours widely in the southwestern tip of Kentucky"
