Aidan
Joe asked me via PM whether I could share some of the settings I have on my RD700GX for the Supernatural EPs. I thought I might as well post them publicly, so if it's of no interest to you, please skip now Other GX owners, please feel free to chip in with any of your own concoctions. I don't claim any particular authenticity for these - I have little or no experience with the "real thing" - but they work for me. Here, then, is the first of the three I currently have stored in my "one touch" settings. Rhodes 1: quite soft, but well defined, based on a setting posted on the Roland Clan forums. (p1) Tone type: Tine EP Bar Angle: 0 Pickup distance: -2 Bell/Thump: 0 Bell Character: -10 Damper noise: +10 Key off reso: +3 Hum noise: 0 Tuning type: Type 2 Level: 127 (p2) Effect: Phaser (I have this turned off by default but ready to switch in) Rate mode: hz Rate: 0.85hz Depth: 82 Resonance: 49 Low gain: 0db High gain: 0db Level: 127 (p3) Amp type: Old case Treble: +10 Bass: 0 Tremelo Sw: On (I do have this on by default) Trem rate mode: hz Trem rate: 2.90hz Trem depth: 51 Trem duty: 0 Speaker sim: Twin Level: 72 (p4 - Key touch edit) Key touch: Light Key touch offset: 0 Velocity: Real Velo delay sens: 0 Velo keyflw sens: 0 Key touch mode: Mode 2 EDIT: Sorry, should have added that I use the equalizer/sound control panel to add 7.8dB on the High Mid Gain control. Judicious use of the equalizer is key to putting some character into the GX's EPs, I've found. Aidan
Another Rhodes: this is punchier and more compressed. Use the key touch settings to adjust how much "bark" you want. No use of equalizer this time. Aidan
My current Wurli: I was really looking for that "What I'd Say" sound in the raw sample, which I think this achieves to some extent, though the bottom notes don't sound quite there - I'm not sure there's a way to fix that. This has two effects in reserve to add. Switching in the trem (and maybe reining back the velocity response a bit) gives you that mild Norah Jones type Wurli, while adding in the chorus gives you instant Supertramp. drawback
I had PM'd Aiden a few months ago with my edits for the Supernatural Rhodes... Aidan
Drawback, thanks for reposting that - revisiting it, I actually like it a whole lot better, though it won't be for anyone who doesn't like bell-rich Rhodes sounds. But that's quite pretty Studio: Yamaha P515 | Yamaha Tyros 5 | Yamaha HX1 | Moog Sub 37 Road: Yamaha YC88 | Nord Electro 5D
