MonksDream
It's Thelonious Monk's birthday! Proper observance involves playing a tone cluster, a whole-tone run, or a dom7(b5) chord without sounding pretentious. Here's the tune that started my love affair with Monk's music: Lulu's Back In Town. I get a kick out of Monk wandering around and the band trying to look like it's all good. Enjoy! Instrumentation is meaningless - a song either stands on its own merit, or it requires bells and whistles to cover its lack of adequacy, much less quality. - kanker

ProfD
Happy post-humous B-Day to the original Jazz maestro TSM. Beyond his flawless technique at the piano, this is hot: Monk Dance Beyond those monster chops, get that showmanship up. marino
My first exposure to Monk was, strangely enough, "Locomotive". "Evidence" is one of my overall favorites. An extract from my own version... my personal Happy Birthday to the crazy genius called Sphere.

Carlo, that was an excellent fusion of Monk and Zawinul. Two of my favorites. PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E.
