Mr. L
I just thought I'd share with you guys that I spent Saturday and Sunday following Zappa Plays Zappa and Dream Theater as they played Milwaukee and Chicago as part of the Progressive Nation Tour. I'd seen Dweezil and the gang in '06 and they were just as crazy and energetic these past two days, even without Vai and Bozzio. The highlight of the set was fiery Scheila Gonzalez who manned the keys, played sax and flute and sang lead and backing vox, which pretty much was like doing the work of three people due in part to the absence of Napoleon Murphy Brock and Aaron Arntz. DT played a spectacular set in support of their new record Black Clouds and Silver Linings. Jordan was in great form and even tore it up on an iPhone solo, playing the Bebot synth. Here is a vid. clip from Milwaukee Big Elf was a really nice surprise. Kinda like 70's metal a la Black Sabbath with keys. Loved Damon Fox's vocals and B3, Tron and Mini work. This is a really cool band. You should check them out if you haven't already. And they are a really nice bunch of guys as well.
