new axe

To make a long story short i sold my Godin LG to a friend and sat on my money for a week to decide what would take it's place.

Today i took the plunge after a few hours in the store. i ended up with a Metallic red Yamaha AES 420. by no means is this any less bitchin than the AES620 series. the Yammy buckers are nice and i prefer the wrap- around tailpiece and single vol and tone knobs. big fat neck oh yeah.

Suh-weet axe 'Zan! I like the pics with the hardwood flooring as background too, an "all wood" pic, very nice. My new Carvin just has the two pots, I like the simplicity of it myself. Enjoy!

i remember you saying how you hated your 612.

as far as i know the 1212 has more improvements than the neck thru build. there were various versions of the rockin magic trem the upper model had milled steel construction. the FB was ebony and i would guess the pickups were dimarzio.

i did catch a vid of the actual guitar and it seemed to hold it's own.

but the main thing is i chose to get the AES420. i have a Kramer pacer custom to rebuild and don't need a another shred axe.

i wanted a solid chunk of mahogany with buckers and a set neck. the wrap around tailpiece is awesome.

what a comfy guitar.

yes, i did make the right decision.

Metallic Red Youbetcha. :D The only way to go with this one.

The look doesn't really want to translate in photos, but 'zan will back me up on this, it's frikkin awesome live!

You'll notice mine has a Sustainiac in the neck pickup position (and mini-toggles for controlling it), and the Roland GK-3 pickup crammed in there too (for use with a VG-88). That's not for looks.

What a stoopid idea it turned out to be to use a GK-3 on a stop tailpiece guitar. Took me a while to realize that with that GK-3 in there, ya have to remove the tailpiece to change a string!
