slap-pop-karl
I was watching never mind the buzzcocks the other week and the singer from glasvegas was on. The presenter started asking him about this song - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3uSdQxKaBfU I aint watched never mind the buzzcocks after that night. I don't want to anymore. The presenter is just a F**kin prat. If you where presenting a show would you pick away at some one and kinda....be a pest if they told you it was none of your buisness?? Okay I got my hair cut! Its now this short *shows how short using hand* Lets get down to business gentlemen! I want that bagel now!...Don't forget the lettuce!
Phil W
Karl, they know what they're in for when they go on the show. almost all of them enjoy the jokes - having jokes at your expense at that kind of show at least indicates you have something worth knocking. I wish they were taking the p**** out of my music on the show - at least that'd been I was high-profile. I think the presenter is very funny personally, he mocks himself as much or more than the guests. I didn't see that episode though so maybe he was out of order. http://philwbass.com
slap-pop-karl
Some may say he aint out of order. I did say to my mum and she found it funny. Some of my brothers mates, a few of my mates and I just didnt seem to find it funny. Mocking there music fair enough but going personal to the life I think is usually a bit to far. Phil W
What did he say? I didn't see it. Probably no-one on the board saw it and most don't have a clue what we're on about. Details? Youtube clip? http://philwbass.com

Bottomgottem
You're a buzzcock. My whole trick is to keep the tune well out in front. If I play Tchaikovsky, I play his melodies and skip his spiritual struggle. ~Liberace
alexclaber
You're fair game if you go on there. The Preston incident in the first series was legendary! Alex Barefaced Ltd - ultra lightweight, high ouput, toneful bass cabs
Phil W
That was funny. I find Simon Amstell very funny. I used to watch Popworld when he was on and he used to make subtly sarcastic comments about and often to the really underwhelming pop artists of the day - especially boy bands. Simon quotes: # Simon: Cynicism is just some sort of endless sadness about life. I think I'm more realistic than cynical. There are things that are sh*t in life, and pointing them out is important. Well, not important, because everything's nonsense really. # Simon: (Asked if he misses his career in the radio field) I miss not having to care if I look respectable. # Simon: (About quitting from Popworld) We knew exactly how it worked and we thought people will start to see our tricks. It's the same with Buzzcocks. I'll stop doing it when I know how to do it properly. # Simon: What I realised during Popworld was that I wasn't cool. Miquita was cool, her aunt was Neneh Cherry, mine was married to an accountant. I realised I could be funny about not being cool. # Simon: Discussing personal things in front of an audience creates a release; people recognise something from their own lives. Humour is the optimism, the release. There's a smuttiness in talking about personal things in print. # Simon: (About his insulting jokes for the guests on Nevermind the Buzzcocks): It's about my love of television, the silliness of showbiz - not "how can I stick the knife in?" The episode in question is on Youtube but I don't have time to watch the whole thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bUSE194a3I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw83nnWxeZc&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNpuQCtNA4o&feature=related http://philwbass.com
rizzo9247
Thanks for the links Phil. I just watched the first 10 minutes to get an idea of what was going on in this thread. I don't think the host said or did anything wrong, that's just how he/the show is. He does have a few good one-liners though
